Okay, what are your Turkey Day plans?

cooking at home?
going to some elses home?
eating out?
eating with the Mouse?

We are going to friends, she is doing the big stuff (turkey, stuffing, gravy) and I'm filling in. Both of us are away from our families and thought it would be fun to celebrate together.

But I am cooking a turkey for DD teacher's "thanks for giving lunch" on the 16th so I'm not completely free from cooking.

2 dinners. My family does dinner at 2 PM. DBF and I will spend the morning, early afternoon with my family and then go to his grandmother's for dinner with his family (7 PM)

Needless to say, I can bearly move by the end of the day!

I usually always do Turkey day with my family, but this year, due to unforseen circumstances, I will be going to my MIL's. She has ordered everything from a local market. It will definitely be weird not being with my sister and her family.:guilty:

Well, with so much fighting on DH's side.. We don't go that direction.. Mom doesn't like to do it at her house and Dad would rather stay home..
So, we are doing our annual tradition just our immediate family.. minus 2 of our boys who spend this holiday with their mom and her family... but it works out nice..because we have them on Christmas and there is never a fight about it.. its the way it has always been!!!!

So, I will cook our annual meal!! Than I get to gear up for decorating that weekend! Yeah!!! :)

We are going to DSiL's the day before and for lunch on Turkey day. It's pretty much a pot luck of sorts. DH is doing the turkey, gravy, and stuffing (yes he cooks and loves it). Then we are traveling back to my parents house late afternoon for more turkey!! Like Faerie, I am usually very full by the end of the day. Ready for midnight shopping at the outlet malls! :cool1: The bonus is that since we are traveling for Thanksgiving, we won't be traveling at Christmas!

There is no place to go to, so it will just be DH and me. I still make everything (turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green been casserole, pie) and we eat turkey sandwiches the rest of the weekend. Other than that, we watch the football, I read the ads for Friday, and then I will pull out the Christmas decorations after dinner.

We have Thanksgiving at my parent's house. After we moved back here 11 years ago, I would do it at my house. Then my parents had a new house built and mom decided she wanted to host it again, which was fine by me since I didn't have to spend most of that week cleaning!;) Mom and I do split up the cooking though. We do pretty much the same at Christmas but with a different menu.

I always cook Thanksgiving here for us and my parents and MIL.

We will have:
Turkey
Gravy
Sweet Potatoes (not mashed)
stuffing
green bean casserole
cranberry relish
canned cranberries
pumpkin pie
cinnamon ice cream

I make everything but the pies and stuffing, mom makes those.

Friday the kids have DR appts so no black friday shopping for me this year. Unless I can get DH to take them to the DR. And Sat is my birthday so I will do nothing!

I'm going to try to go shopping this year on Black Friday...but someone needs to have bail money just in case!!! This will be the first time I try this...so I may need some pointers!!!

I have no clue!!! LOL I did it for the first time last year, working retail turns you off of shopping black friday. Let's see, divide and conquer if you can, get DH to go with you. He goes to one store you go to another. Go with a list and a mental layout of the store, or a map. Maps are good. Shop some of the black friday websites out there. They post the flyers and deals. Oh and most importantly is get there early! Like 0 500 dark early.

We go to the ILs for all of the major holidays. DH is an only child, so if we don't go, they are alone. We go to Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving dinner. So what ever is on their special dinner is what we will be having. [She does go all out for Christmas, just doesn't feel the need to cook lots twice in one year especially with big boys only wanting to watch TV anyway]

As for Black Friday, I don't do it. DH will go if there some gadget on sale, but not me. Nothing has been worth the mayhem that I've heard about.

My DSiL and I went to the outlet malls at midnight last year. It was great fun because we left all the kids sleeping with the guys. We didn't know what to do with ourselves! We got some great deals especially at the Disney store. We got home and got about an hours worth of sleep before we headed out again at o'dark thirty. We hit Circuit City for DD's Nintendo DS Lite and Toys R Us for a few other things. All in all we had a great time together and we found great deals. My advice is have a list of what you want with flyers in hand and then make a plan of which stores to hit when and then divide and conquer once inside. We plan on going again this year! :cool1:

It was great! At first I was less than enthused because the line to check out snaked through the ENTIRE store. What was great about it was, there was no use shopping then getting in line, you literally saw everything while standing in line. So we got in line and shopped as we waited! I ended up with more stuff than if I had actually shopped.

I love BF shopping. You have to be prepared with a list and then be speedy. I go in, grab the stuff I think will go fast, and then get out of dodge. Don't get sidetracked by the cute Christmas items; they will still be there the next week. Usually I can do it in a way that I get to the checkout lines before the mass of people. At least for the first stops. But I don't go for the HTG electronic items. Although this year we are looking for a new TV. We had hoped our current one would make it too the move, but the tube is dying and it's getting worse every day. The worst line here is at Circuit City. Last year, it was the line snake that took over an hour. When we got to the front the employees were just as upset as we were. They told us that they had originally been scheduled to have 8 registers opened, and 3 days before corporate told them they could only have 3! I am home by 10.

This year is going to be fun! Will have Thanksgiving dinner at my parent's house with my brothers, SIL, and sister. But this year also happens to be my one brother's birthday and its not just any birthday, but his 30th!!! So we have to do something evil!!! BRU HA HA HA. He can't avoid it. I love tormenting my siblings about how "OLD" they are. Its one of the few perks to being the younger sibling. And a reason why I go on vacation for my birthdays! ;)

Anyways, for dinner:
Turkey though may also have ham, I'm not sure
Mashed potatos and gravy
Rolls - Its always fun to see who will get them first, my sister or SIL. They are both fiends for rolls
Stove Top stuffing - this is the only kind I like, don't even think of trying to give me homemade! Blech! :scared:
Homemade stuffing - This is for my parents only. Yucky!
Scalloped corn - This is my favorite Thanksgiving food made from an old family recipe. It is soooooo good.
Cranberry relish - This is something only my mom eats
Peas - For my one brother
French fries - Again for my brother. He won't eat mashed or baked potatos, but will need fries. Strange!
Normally there is Pumpkin Pie for desert though this year I'm sure there will probably be some form of birthday cake for my brother. Not sure if my mom will make one or if he will pick an ice cream one up from Dairy Queen. It's his choice.

And no Black Friday shopping for me. I have to work. :( I'm going to be the only one in my department. I don't normally go shopping anyways. And since where I work is near the shopping center, I usually stay in for lunch than try to deal with the traffic and crowds of people.

We have dinner at home, just the 4 of us. Our parents are all gone, and our siblings are spread across the country. I'm going to buy a turkey breast this year because we NEVER finish a whole turkey. We'll have a pretty standard meal...turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, maybe some peas. I'll let the family choose a dessert and I'll make whatever they want.

We hang out and watch football most of the day. The kids and DH will be home the next day, and we'll do the Christmas decorating and make a gingerbread house.

My Christmas shopping will be done by next week, so no Black Friday shopping for me:).

I will be going to my aunt's house this year. It was my turn to host 3 years ago on the year we moved into the house and I am hosting tons of people for Christmas. My sister, BiL and her children will be there as well as another aunt and my grandmother.

My parents are going to be with another sibling and my DB in California will be at his in laws.

As far as black Friday goes it was more fun when we were near my parents but DH and I will go out and drag my brother. It is always nice to have someone to be in line. DH has to go to work so when he dgoes to work Daniel will get in line as we walk into each store and I will colllect the loot and then pay for it. Last year we didn't go since we were at Disney. We have gotten some really good deals but you need to have a plan and be in line at the first store at least half an hour before they open. We will eat with DH and then head back home after shopping. I haven't told my brother about this yet.

Rebecca

no BF shopping for me either, can't stand all the people. We always decorate the outside of the house on Friday and then the inside on Sat, since I do two trees (one is my "grown up" tree in the living room and DD has her own tree in the playroom), it takes forever, at least I have pre-lit trees, the lights were always the worse.
EAT the whole weekend, make cookies, Eat MORE, watch the bowl games (the only time I usually watch football) and get to hang out with DH since he will be home for 6 days! the longest we will have since he's been on the road since Aug!
I can't believe none of us are going to spend Turkey Day with Mickey, he will be so lonely without all of his Dis buddies:sad1:

We have dinner at my house, my mom prepares the turkey on Wednesday (seasons and stuffs it), DH picks it up on his way home from work, so it is ready for me to put into the oven on Thursday. She (Mom) goes to a party along the route of a road race Thursday morning, when the race and party is over, they come over to my house.

I prepare everything else, we will have homemade cranberry sauce (my grandmother's recipe, I can't imagine Thanksgiving dinner without it), mashed potatoes, sweet pototoes, butternut squash, turnip, pearled onions  (only my mother's husband eats them but we have to have them) stuffing, gravy, apple pie, and pumpkin pie.

I usually work the day after Thanksgiving, (I can't stand BF and the crowds) but this year is DH's birthday and I am going to take the day off. Hey, that means it is someone elses birthday soon too.:rolleyes1 :dance3: Can you all guess who? Nope, not me but someone close to me.
