Qantas, trail mix had maggots

I know this could really happen on any airline, but this to me is just another nail in that flying kangaroo coffin

And all she got off them was $400, that would ruin me for life!

DS5 watched the news this afternoon and says

"mum, what are maggots?"
"Umm why?"
"Because a girl was on a plane and found maggots in her food"
"Maggots are baby flies that look like worms"
"Yuk, I don't want to eat those mum"

Thank God no Qantas for us DS5 wouldn't have it because he'd think they'd serve us up some maggots

Umm, pretty revolting etc, but wouldn't make me not fly Qantas. After all they didn't package them and she did say it was dark so maybe staff couldn't see them either. Does anyone else think its strange that out of a plane full of people she was the only one to find them and in multiple packets? I'm not saying she's lying, just a strange coincidence- maybe others just ate them.

I know I'll be looking more carefully at trail mix in the supermarket seeing it was packed by an Australian company...maybe Woolworths will give me $400 compensation for finding some...people pay good money in some places for cheese with maggots in it so why not trail mix

although........I'd be happy for my DH to get the maggots and i got the $400....he's tough, he'd take one for the team

Now I'll be honest. I wouldn't eat any maggots (and the fact that I'm allergic to nuts, I wouldn't be snacking on the maggots incase they contained traces of nuts ).

But.... I would happily accept a packet of trail mix, containing maggots, from a flight attendant to score $400! But to be honest, if i had received something with maggots I would have gone for more than $400. Knowing that they seem to give out $400 vouchers regularly (DS and I have had them before). I think if they offered $400 I would counter offer for $800 Yep, $800 sounds better for a bag of maggots.

I think I would rather have a few bags go missing . They are $400 a pop compo from Q if you ask nicely sure beats the alternate.

Ps: I think it would have been worse on jetstar. They would charge for the trail mix!!
