Curious. When you talk about how much you saved, do you talk about what the deal gives you off the rack rate of what you are booking or do you give what you would have paid compared to what you had booked?

For example, if you had booked a moderate, but upgraded to a deluxe and saved $1000 off the rack rate of a deluxe do you say that saved $1000? Or do you say you saved $200 since that is the difference on the rack rate of the moderate v. what you are paying for the deluxe? **These are made up numbers for an example only and assuming you were paying rack rate before any discounts.

For me, I always go for the lowest bottom line number and my savings are from what I was originally going to save, regardless of where I end up.

My savings were based on what I would have been paying before the deal, not rack rate. So I started with the AAA discounted price and went from there.

I figure my savings on what I was paying prior to the new deal also, not off the rack rate. I had AAA, now I have the new deal so my savings is the difference between those two. If I used the rack rate my savings would seem higher but wasn't really my savings because I wasn't originally paying the rack rate.

I figured it on the rate I was already going to pay (AAA discount) which amounted to a $131 savings + the gift card.

I also added a night, but didn't figure that in since it didn't cost anything.

I do think some had ressies at rack though and that's why the savings is so high. If I had reported my savings based on rack it would have been over $900.
