Q. about Tomorrowland Speedway for 3 yr old

My BFF will be taking her 2 little ones to WDW for their first time this coming December.

Her DS3 LOVES Cars (the movie characters and the vehicle!), so I thought they would really enjoy going on the Tomorrowland Speedway. I just have a few questions:

-Is 3 yrs old too young to ride this ride (obviously accompanied by his mom or dad)?

-How many people fit into each car?

-They will also be traveling with a 6 month old baby. Should only one parent join this ride with their DS3 or will it be safe for their family to ride together (with DD 6 months on a parent's lap)

-Is there FP for this ride? If not, does the line tend to be extra long?

-Anything else "Cars" related for them to do in WDW? Meet and greets or anything?

1. my 3 year old daughter rode it over xmas - she liked it but the problem is she can't reach the pedal or steering wheel very well

2. each car will fit 2 people.

3. not sure if the 6 month old can ride on a lap with the seatbelt - maybe, just not sure - but the parents would each be in a separate car, 1 with the baby and 1 with the 3 year old

4. no fp but very slow loading and unloading so the line gets very long - if they really want to do it, they should get there very early in the day, if not first thing at rope drop, so they don't spend a lot of time in the boring, slow line.

The baby won't be able to go on it. It has a 32" height requirement.

I'm kind of short (5'3") so maybe that had something to do with it, but I would have had a REALLY hard time "driving" with a baby on my lap. I kind of had to stretch my leg a lot to accelerate and the pedal is quite heavy, takes a bit of effort to press it and keep it pressed the whole time, at least for me it did.

I think the 3 year old would be fine, and the baby too if it's allowed, but like I said, in my opinion it would be hard to drive with the baby.

Also, I got a bad car once with a malfunctioning steering wheel and it would keep bumping against the track, no matter what I tried, but I still had to keep going because a cast member told me it would be really complicated to stop the ride to let me out. It was REALLY rough and uncomfortable, as if I was being bumped by another car constantly and I ended up with a sore, bruised back from it for a couple of days.

I'm sure that's rare, but I would check the if the car is working properly before you go too far and it's to late to do anything about it, specially with little ones.

Two people fit in the car. The adult would work the pedals but the 3 yo could steer. Even at rope drop, the line is 10-20 minutes as they only open one lane when it's slow, so figure on a 20 minute wait as being the minimum.

I'm not sure it's even allowed, but I wouldn't take a 6 mo old on it. It's loud, lots of fumes and (especially if the 3 yo is steering) can jerk you around sometimes.

The Cars meet and greet is in DHS. There's also Lights Motor Action which is a cool car stunt show, which they are adding Lightening McQueen to (it's a loud show though - we always bring ear plugs for the little ones.)

If her DS is 40 in, he will love Test Track in Epcot. Also, there are regular cars in a showroom after the ride that you can sit in and there's a store with lots of Cars merchandise as well.

The Cars meet & greet at DHS is around the corner from Muppet Vision and it's Lightening McQueen and Mator.

I must have had a defective car on the Speedway too, I had a really hard time driving it and had my 4 year old with me. Took me forever to get around the track.

As with many other things I am sure it depends on the CM but the minimum height to sit in the driver seat is 52" it has been enforced each time we have gone. My son was finally tall enough at 6 but he did have a hard time with the pedals as well.

As others mentioned it is a very jerky ride and can be a long wait as it is very slow loading.

It's been our experience that you have to be 52" to ride ALONE. Our DS12 was quite happy when he hit this mark several years ago and could go without an adult. My kids have always "driven" the car from behind the wheel while an adult has controled the pedal. That always seemed to be enough of a thrill for them although riding with them can be tough on the adult.

There is only a gas pedal & no brake. The only brake is if you lift off of the gas & believe me it works. Our vehicle seemed to only have 2 speeds- go & stop. I'm surprised my 10 year old didn't give me whiplash. I told her that I was shocked they gave her a driver's license since she almost killed me & that I should take it away from her & tear it up before she caused any more trouble. No baby should go on that ride- expecially with a non-driver. The teenager beside of us couldn't stop hitting the track either.

I am pretty sure only Mator is at the garage. I read here Lightening is moving to another area and I was told he was already gone. They are bringing in Phineas & Ferb but, not untill after we are gone. I'm sad as the DGS loves them.

Sorry I did not phrase that properly. I meant to drive in the seat alone, operating the pedals and the steering wheel. I will say that even at 6 although my son is quite tall and met the requirements that it was difficult for him to operate the pedals.
