Q about booking through travel agent

Hi there! We recently booked an upcoming stay at Disney Properties through my Dad who is retired, but is working as a freelance travel agent through a local travel agency here in Cleveland. I don't want to hurt his feelings since this was the first big trip he booked, but I'm wondering when I can typically expect to see the following:

- Tickets for the parks in my hand
- Disney booking #? He gave me his travel agency confirmation number, but when I spoke to a dining reservation cast member they asked for my booking number and they didn't match up. Does my Dad have to do something specific with Disney to make sure we are synced up with their online reservation system as well?

I'm just concerned that everything was done properly. I know that he used the reputable company "United Vacations" (through United airlines) to book, but I don't want to have any issues with the Yacht Club once we arrive. Hope that makes sense and thanks for any insight you could offer!

You should have no problem making dining reservations, you don't even need a resort reservation to make dining reservations. The only advantage is with a resort reservation (no matter how it's booked) you can make 10 days worth of Dining Reservations (ADRs) on the 180 day mark prior to your resort check in. I haven't booked through a TA before but I assume you should be able to make those ADRs with the TA confirmation #.

Second - you won't receive your park tickets until check in. They are on your Key to the World card which serves as your room key, park tickets, resort ID - gives you access to Extra Magic Hours and you may add charging privileges to it by linking a credit card at check in.

I image you will receive a Welcome Packet, just like if you booked directly through Disney, with Magic Express transfers and luggage tags (if you signed up for that service) about a month prior to arrival.

Hope this helps!

As pp poster said you won't get tickets until check-in, but if you really want the confirmation number your dad should have access to it unless he calls everything into his host agency and doesn't actually do the booking himself.

I also book through a host agency, but I do my bookings either online or by telephone directly with the resorts and have all the confirmation numbers and our agency confirmations show the actual confirmation number as well as a PNR number generated by our GDS system.
