Hey everyone!!

I have some questions regarding the annual pass's that are available and I haven't found an AP area so far.

I am thinking about purchasing AP's for the family, for right around $2000. My daughter is 9 now, but we wouldn't be able to go to WDW before she turns 10. Is this a problem if we purchase them ahead of time? My DS-I-L told me that they have to be activated first. What does this entail? What other bene's are there for AP's? We don't live in FL, and its around 12 hrs to drive down. My thinking is that if we go 2x in one year then they have paid for themselves.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

When you purchase you will actually get a voucher. The voucher will not start until the first day you use them. So you will get a full year from that date.

There is a list of AP discounts. Whats been most helpful to me has been the AP room discounts.

Enjoy!

We have had AP's for well over 6 years now. It's one of the best things we've done & has made our WDW vacations more enjoyable. My kids are now 19, 16 & 16 (really not young kids any more, I guess!)

I believe if you use them 8 or more days throughout the year, they are worth the price. We used to get the PAP's, but found that we didn't do the water parks enough to jusity the extra cost & could get a discount with an AP if we did want to go to a water park.

We love the fact that we can be flexible on our vacations. We don't feel as though we are "wasting a day" on our passes if we only go to the parks for a few hours in the evening. Our vacations have changed & are more enjoyable & definitely more relaxing. We do many pool days, shower & then head to the parks in the evening for dinner & then fun.

We take advantage of as many discounts as we can that are offered with the AP's. It was worth it for us.

We enjoy them

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I will have to upgrade the dd's from the child price to the adult. I dont think it will make that much difference, and I'm all about making things easier.
I will bring this up to the DW and get approval from the boss, once again, thanks guys!!!

If your daughter was 9 on the first use, she could use the child's pass for the year. If she's 10 on first use, she needs an adult pass.

You will be sent vouchers. To activate the vouchers, you will have to go to a ticket window or guest services desk to get the actual passes. You will need to show ID for those 18 or older.

Unfortunately, she would be 10 before we could get down there. Is there any way to activate them at say, a Disney store? Are the prices any different if you buy them there vice online?

You guys are great, thanks for the help.

As far as which to get your daughter.. I always thought I heard that even with tickets its the age they are when you purchase. If you purchase it before she is 10 thats fine. I have never had to show proof of age for my child.

You can call disney and ask also.

Thanks, I guess I could just get it straight from the mouse's mouth. I just thought someone else might know the answer already.

Thanks everyone!!

No, you can only activate them at a park ticket window or guest services (park or downtown disney). You can't do it at a resort. The year starts ticking when you activate them.

Unless you are actually at WDW, all that you get is a voucher which must be exchanged for an actual AP at any WDW Park (including water park and TTC) Ticket Window or any Guest Relations Office (including DTD).

They will ask for demographic data including name, address, and date of birth for each person when the voucher is exchanged for a live ticket. Since your daughter will have reached her 10th birthday prior to the trip, you may as well order the adult-priced AP for her.

Note that if you have an AP voucher is can be exchanged for a live AP even if there has been a price increase between the time of the purchase and the time of redemption. However, if you buy a voucher for a child and want to redeem it for an Age 10+ pass you will have to pay the difference between what you paid and the current gate price.

And the expiration will be the same date the following year as the date you get the active pass.

You might want to look at the Everything About WDW Tickets locked sticky in the TPA&S Forum. Especially the items bolded in the list below.
