PVD 8am flight - what time to arrive?

I am flying out of PVD (Providence RI) on Thursday, on an 8am Delta flight.

Wondering what the best time to get to teh airport would be? I know they're telling people 2 hours ahead of time, but that seems a little ridiculous to me, with such a small airport.

I'm not checking any bags, carry on only, and was thinking about arriving around 6:30am for my 8am flight - does that sound reasonable for people? That would give me 90 mins to get through security, which I can't imagine would be a problem.

Anyone been to PVD airport recently in the morning (6am - 8am)? What was it like?

Hi Jill - Im your neighbor in the town south of Worcester.
On Oct 5th my 9yr son and I have a 7am flight out of Providence on Delta. We spent the night before at an airport hotel. I also needed to have my car when we arrived. We got the hotel limo to Delta at 430am. When we arrived we were shocked at the amount of people waiting to check in. My check in luggage had been driven down to FL a week ahead so I only had our carry ons with us. We waited in the wrong lines - we had no need for the curbside checking. The security line was looonnnggg. They were however announcing flights that were getting ready to leave so people who had flights leaving could get through. We then had to checkin with our E-tickets at the gate. Had some wait before this. I was glad we had the extra 2 hours. Dec 1st Im flying Delta again out of Providence and will be at the airport 2 hours ahead. Have a safe flight.

A family member just flew out of PVD to FL and said she needed that 2 hours. Her flight was at 7:30 am and there were long lines at 5:20 am for the counter and then again for security. The lines move relatively quickly but with so many people being checked, it's not a fast process. She spent very little time at the gate and was glad she got there early.
