LOL--my DP just came up with a SCATHINGLY brilliant idea! She said that once I'm old enough to need a nursing home (she's already threatened me with that one!) that it will be more cost effective for her to just drop me off at the port and leave me in the TLC of Disney. She swears she'll visit me every Saturday when the Magic returns. I'm thinking getting older isn't going to be so bad after all!

Just thought I'd share...

Really? That'd be more cost effective? Goodness! What kind of retirement had you planned?!?!?

(BTW, what's a "DP"?)

I was wondering the same thing too Dave, maybe Disney Parrot??? LOL!!!

I want to know where we sign up for THAT retirement plan!!!!

DP stands for Darling Partner or Disney Partner.

And I guess I plan on having a VERY Disney retirement!

I'm signing up for this retirement stay too!!! ::yes::
Considering most nursing homes now are $5,000.-$10,000. a month, this might be much more cost effective. Now to figure out a way for Medicare to pay. This leaves me 28 more years ( ) to work on this plan.

I think we should start a petition to send to each of our legislators.

Dear Senator (Representative)--

As a soon-to-be-senior in America, I would like to take this time to voice my concerns about my Medicare funded care after retirement. As you may well know, nursing homes, while nice, do not provide the stimulation and "magical" environment that each of us deserves. We have worked hard and long to help make our country a productive one. For these reasons, we would like you to consider a new Medicare Pro-Plan. This plan, as envisioned, will cover an unlimited length-of-stay on the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, or future Disney Cruise Line owned vessels. This plan will not only provide shelter, transportation, meals, and health care, but will also provide any alcohol, PRN.

Please consider passing a bill that will establish this Medicare Pro-Plan.

Thank you for your time,
A concerned citizen, ________

Mcnuss and I are going to share a stateroom for half of the year - maybe you'd like to deal with us and we can split the room for three! Cost would be less for all and with 4 months a piece to sail, we could have a ball as "oldies but goodies" -

48 and holding on tight!

Rae! That is a FABULOUS idea! Can I choose which months I want to sail? LOL--Newport is a little rough around the edges come February...

I did talk with one of the nurses who told me that she was provided by an Agency and you can ask for that type of assignment. Now that's worth looking into for us RN's!!!!

Many, many years ago I bought a beautiful full length blue fox coat for the money I made working on Easter weekend for an Agency - still sits in my closet for that once a year trip to Church on Christmas Eve!!! Maybe someday it will make a nice blanket!

My husband is from England - I know for a fact this story is true -

There is a woman in England that has done just that - She is on the QE2 - she figured out it would be cheaper for her to live on the boat than in a retirement community - It is possible -

I did read the story myself - They had pictures of her on the ship and everything! This I read about 2 years ago, so I do not know of a current "link" to the story -

Just wanted to let you know that it is possible -

Karen

Okay, all for this idea - wave your Mickey hands in the air!
