Did George Tenet go on by himself or was he asked to go ??

Elections around the corner - criticism over faulty intelligence in the run-up to the Iraqi war and over whether 9/11 could have been prevented.

I think George was looking for a fresh face.

JMHO..........

and Tenet, being a "leftover" from the Clinton administration, makes the perfect fall guy.

Think it was his decision... he saw what was coming and decided to take the preemptive strike.

Rumours are that some other CIA figures will be leaving soon !!!

either
1) Saw the writing on the wall and jumped
or
2) Realised the damage and danger he's caused to the US in general and troops on the ground in particular and did the honourable thing by stepping down.

Personally I'd plump for #1

wow VH, you almost went a whole week!!!!
perhaps you should go back and play with the tag faries.

Whether he jumped or was pushed, Bush certainly has had a number of people from his administration leave their positions.

LOL! If George Tenet were going to be pushed/shoved out, it would have happened on 09/12/2001 ... not nearly 3 years later. Why is it so difficult to accept something at face value: the man has not had a vacation in 7 years; suffered a heart attack several years ago; has a son going into his senior year in high school; and maybe, just maybe he wants to take a break and spend time with his family. Seem like legitimate reasons to leave Washington/CIA to me. :confused3

I don't think it's anything unusual. Clinton had quite a few people leave.

Yep, both have had people leave. The ideals of "public service" are wonderful, the realities are often a whole different thing.

As for Tenant - I'm not sure - it's possible he really is tired and just wants a break. It's also possible he saw the writing on the wall and decided to act first.

Wow VH, you sure seem obsessed with the goings on in Washington. Do you wish you LIVED here?

I am certainly willing to take it at face value. President Bush doesn't lie. Furthermore, I understand that they have developed a close friend ship over the years. President Bush actually got to know Tenet, meeting with him daily, unlike his predicessor who met with him twice.
