This was told to me by a co-worker who had never been to disney before
Just last week, he was having dinner at the Contemporary with his new wife (it was their honeymoon). He was sitting at a table that was next to a velvet rope which separated areas of the dining room. He looked up and saw Mickey Mouse and told his wife to go stand with Mickey for a picture. His wife thought nothing of stepping OVER the velvet rope to see Mickey.
Mickey stating motioning "Stay Away" with his hands but she continued over to Mickey. She put he arm around Mickey and he actually pushed her away and then scurried of to another area.
After the event the were told by their server that they had CRASHED a character meal...
