I wonder if anyone could help me on this one.......I have heard that you are not alloud to take pushchairs to your table when eating in the park - is this true? If it is, then we may well have a problem with a sleeping babe!!! Also do you think it's worth booking dinner/lunch reservations now? The only definate plan we have is we want to take out DD to the Princess character meal. We are going at the begining of July............

Most table service restaurants do not have the space to allow waiters to serve safety with buggies beside the table, hence that is why Cafe Mickey, Annettes Diner, Inventions etc will politely ask you to leave your buggy at the front of the restaurant.

We have never pre-booked even in the height of summer on past visits :)

I can't get search to work but I am sure there was a thread about this once before. If I remember correctly there was no problem taking a buggy with a sleeping child to your table but if the child was awake then you would be expected to sit him/her in a high-chair ~ provided he/she was old enough, of course! :)

hiya,

i went last week.we booked our resteraunts as soon as we arrived -that was the plaza and inventions, and it was quite obvious when we arrived you needed it as it was very busy,

we did think about going to king ludwigs but its not a disney resterant for the cake we ordered...by the way you can book a table there if you go yourself, when we tried to book at marne le vallee they said we couldnt..so i would go yourself!

We were asked in all sit down restaurants to leave the buggy by the door, but I did see the odd pushchair next to a table, so I would imagine they would accomodate you where they can. In the Cowboy Cookout BBQ counter service restaurant there was plenty of space to have the pushchair next to your table, and everyone was doing it.

....oh and if you're going in the summer, then you could always sit at an outside table with the pushchair at one of the restaurants that has them!

We were the same when DD was very little and therefore tended to eat mostly in counter service.

As Elaine says each restaurant will do there best to accomodate guests :)

that was a good question, i wouldn't have thought about something like that, well good thing the lil one likes to sit at the table anyway, and plus we'd only ever have a meal while she was awake (of course).

Are the buggies safe when left?

We had no problems leaving the buggy, but ours is a special needs one, so whether this makes it less of a target I'm not sure!

I have read a thread somewhere about someone who had their buggy stolen from Cafe Mickey while they were eating, but if you were really worried you could always take a bicycle chain I suppose?

Obviously don't leave bags, souveniers etc unattended on the buggy - this is more of a problem for the rides rather than restaurants, although we were using the disabled entrances, so we were able to leave the buggy right by where you get off the ride, which means ours was always right by a CM anyway!

Hi there!

Could someone axplain how the buggy hire works. Is it just in the parks? We are staying at Sequoia and my little girl is 3. She is happy to walk but very often gets tired and wants DP to carry her. Is it worth us taking our buggy?:confused3

Hi Debwid and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

You hire the buggies daily for approx €6.50 per day. If memory serves me correct you can remove it from the park by leaving a €150 deposit :)

Should be fine with a pushchair in Cafe Mickey. The staff are very accomodating and I saw them allow someone to bring a pushchair through for a wee chap falling asleep on his mum's knee...

If my daughter was still young enough to be in her own pushchair we would have taken it with us. On a busy day we queued 45 mins to an hour for a DLP pushchair. Up to you really - it would certainly come in handy on the walk in to/out of the park, even with the moving walkways...

I'm a bit perturbed about this.
Our yougest is only 4 months and couldn't possibly sit in a high chair and having her sat on your knee while eating a meal seems very impractical.

Most family friendly places in the UK allow you have your buggy next to the table with you if the child is either asleep or too small for a highchair.

We had hoped to go to Planet Hollywood and Annettes Diner on our next visit, will we still be able to with a 4 month old baby in a buggy?

Yep - but most child-friendly places in the UK don't have large, Baloo-costume clad cast members moving from table to table and dragging the kids round the restaurant dancing in a line ;)

My son was 8 months old last july when we went. If he was asleep they did accomodate us with pushchair (which was harder for us as we had a double one), he was generally expected to go in high chair if awake as there are loads of pushchairs!! we left ours with no problems in restaurants and rides. High chair was quite ridgid(but had mickey ears so they could be forgiven), he did slip a bit but was ok ( they are also immaculate with cling film wrapped round to keep clean til used).
Our 2 year old sat in one aswell and he loved them.
i could go on and on.
Our eldest is 3 and we will still be taking double pushchair this year as there a lot of walking and saves money hiring one and is easier to push one than two.:yay:

Thanks Selwonk,

I think we will take the pushchair as it saves messing. We can always leave it in the hotel on one of our days there if it is causing a nuisance with getting on rides. The main problem will be for Dad who will be expected to carry our little monkey if we don't have the pushchair.:surfweb:

good thread, i was wondering what you did with pushchairs, I am sure in Florida i only ever saw the hired buggys, but didnt really take much notice as I didnt even have children then.

So does this mean you do not have to have the hired ones, you CAN take your own buggys in. I guess we will take a double buggy, as we are going with a 3 year old and 6 month old.

Aye, there's no problem with your own buggy. But as some posters have commented, if you're concerned about theft (esp. if you have a super-dooper expensive one) then take a wee bicycle lock.

That's right :thumbsup2 We have been with MacLaren and mamas & Papas without any problems. Did take a bike lock one year but it was such a bind to lock and unlock that we gave up. If your buggy is not where you left it it is probably because the CMs have moved it to keen the area clear ;)
