Hello someone has recommended that we need to have a pushchair at DLP, our daughter is 4 years old and quite a good little walker but they have advised us to take one of hire one. Please can people give me advice on this. We are flying so we'd have to pay extra to take a pushchair, does anyone know how much it is to hire them there?
Thanks

According to the DLRP magic website pushchair rental is about 9 euros per day. We will be bringing our old buggy with us for our 4 yr old. There is a lot of walking to do and we can do it quicker and less stressfully if DS is in a buggy :)

Hi Liz

Are you surea bout paying extra for pushchair when flying? I have flown with lots of different airlines including the cheapest of the no frills and have never had to pay for pushchair?:confused3

Hi, we have also flown a few times and not had to pay extra so I would check that but I would say it's worth taking it, we have a 3 year old and 5 year old and will be taking ours again this year. We would have been stuck without it last year, the kids took it in turns to have a rest and also useful to store our coats as bags on!

I agree with taking your own pushchair - it costs 9 euros per day to hire one at DLP, you can't take them from park to park or from park to your hotel without paying a hefty deposit, and they are bulky things which don't recline.

My DD was nearly 6 when we first went to DLP, and she managed fine with no pushchair - but you do walk for miles every day at DLP without realising it, so for littler legs a pushchair is a godsend.

I never got charged for buggy on plane Either. We are heading to dl soon and I'm bringing buggy for dd who is 7. I dont think she would not be able for all the walking even at her age she has health problems and asthma so gets tired easily and runs off etc so easier to handle in buggy

Sorry to hi jack ur post but was wondering if those who take their own pushchair when u leave it outside attractions etc do you secure it to anything or just leave it sitting curious as have heard so many reports of pushchairs bein stolen :confused3

thanks

I would definitely take your own pushchair- aside from the cost, you aren't allowed to take them out of the parks and it is a pain having to carry a sleepy 4 year old back to the hotel.
Fairydustmummy- when we went in September we took our quite expensive pram for our 9month old and I was really worried beforehand about having it stolen so we took our pram lock. We used the lock once but it was such a faff we never bothered again. We left the pram outside all attractions and there was always loads of others too. I suppose there is always a chance somebody would take it but I wouldn't worry too much. X

:)I was wondering about this too My very tall nearly 5 year old hasnt been in a push chair for years but wondering Whould he look too big ? As I know he hates walking ?

he won't look too big - I've seen children much older than 5 in pushchairs at DLP.

Our pram isn't expensive but it is a good fit for dd so I'm gonna bring a pram lock also just in case

thankyou everyone for the advice, I think we'll definitely be taking a buggy now!!!

Take a lock! A DIS member recently had their buggy nicked and im afraid its quite common. Chain it to the fence, but in the buggy area, otherwise the CM's will move it (if not locked) as I've seen them call security for ones that are locked in the wrong area.

Anyone have any thoughts on bringing a second buggy v a buggy board for a 5 year old?

When I took DD when she nearly 5 last March I really toyed with the idea of taking a cheap buggy with us! But, to my surprise, she did really well with the walking and didn't even really complain about tired legs once!

On our next trip in June, the park was open much later and tbh, she could have done with a buggy on this trip. As the days were just so much longer and the parks were much busier.

We took our pram in November and it isn't the cheapest pram by any means and never had a problem, we just took anything valuable on the ride with us in a bag x

Also we hired a pushchair for our 3yr old and glad we did, currently looking at going again in August when he'll be four and I'll Deffo be hiring one again for him, does help he has an annual pass though so its free

When we last took DS he was 4 and in hindsight I wish we'd taken a buggy. He was on DHs shoulders a lot and got quite miserable with sore feet!
