I got an invitation to a purse party, with the description that there would be Coach, Prada, Dooney & Burke, etc. I've never been to one of these before, but I thought the purses are all knockoffs? Are purse parties worth going to, or should I come up with an excuse to get out of it? :confused3

Read your invitation carefully; I do not believe those designers would partner with the in home party circuit:confused3 Either the individual has a closet full she is re-selling or these are knock-offs. I have D&B from decades ago and I know you shouldn't be able to buy them from a home show:scratchin

Purse party I've gone to was all knock off purses. But they also had real Uggs, different scarves and sunglasses. I grabbed a small wallet, two and two scarves. I think it was about $20 for those things and the ones I bought whereby claiming to be a name brand

Several of my friends hosted that type of party a few years ago, and the purses were all knock-offs. Last summer, the woman who sold the stuff was convicted and sent to prison! I forget the exact charge now, but it was trafficking illegal goods or something.

So, yeah... I'd be busy that night. ;)

I'd decline, they are fake.
If they are not fake, it probably "fell off a truck" and is part of some organized crime racket whether your friend's friend is aware or not.

Plus, there are worse things about knockoffs, you are most likely supporting child labor in China, Vietnam... :(

They most likely are knock offs.

I have been to 1 purse party that my sister in law had. They are big on those "at home parties" and unfortunately I have gone to every kind imaginable under the sun to be supportive of them. LOL It started with Tastefully simple foods, cash at home parties, 31 bag, etc etc.. now they are into those wine parties...

Not a fan of those parties at all, big rip off!! If you can get out of it, I'd do that. ;)

this. also i think there i some confusion here. a knock off means it has a similar design and mimics the original designers concept. fake or counterfeit bags will feature the company's trademarked logos. if they are naming designers and selling them out of someone's living room for $20 then they are used, fakes, or fell off a truck (but i doubt they would have that many designers).

counterfeit bags are also parts of crime rings in other countries and have been traced to support, drug trade, human trafficking, and even terrorism.

interestingly enough, our local paper just ran an article regarding arrests being made at several shops (town of 25,000) selling "counterfeit clothing". It may be a purse party here and a small shop there but sure sounds like the legitimate designers and brand owners now have laws on their side:thumbsup2I'd definitely decline the invitation;)

Decline, they are fake and will not hold up. Don't wsate your time or money!
