Show solidarity with free Iraqi's!

I'll sporting a purple finger this week! My older 2 son's even wanted to show their support of the Iraqi people by going to school with a purple finger today (and until the 15th) also. A few of the boy scout troops around here are going the purple finger route this week too!

Twice this year, Iraqis have shown their courage, defying the terrorists -- risking their lives to exercise their right to vote - Let the World Now Raise a Purple Finger in Solidarity with Free Iraqis.

What a terrific idea! I plan to do this, too. Thanks for sharing this.

My youngest son and I just got home from a few errands - you'd be surprised how many people questioned why our fingers were purple - they all thought it was a great idea! In fact - the supermarket man was getting an ink pad to put at his check out counter! :cool1:

Great news Bet! Although some won't think so unfortunately.

That's okay. I don't plan on letting any of that bother me a jot. And I don't think the Iraqis will either!

Thanks for posting the link to the website. I'm printing out the lesson plan for DD to take to her geography teacher, and I'm offering to purchase the purple ink for the class, so they can participate.

I think that is fine. But even better would be to vote in the next US election. We have the freedom to vote, how many of us do?

If I was allowed to, man I SO would purple up my finger. :)

Come to think of it, I just might on Friday, since we're only cleaning and not really serving lunch at all (half day).

TOV

I've never heard of this. I'll do it on the 15th. I've got a purple pen in my purse right now. Its a half day anyway. But I'll see alot of people, so I might get someone to paint theirs purple too.

It kind of reminds me of the Mark of the Beast for some reason....:earseek: That's very unique and interesting though. It's nice that they have the right to vote! I'm glad we don't have to do the purple finger in America when we vote...I am left handed and get enough ink on my hand as it is, LOL!

Very cool idea! My favorite photo of my DH in Iraq is him with about 8 Iraqi's showing their purple fingers! I got it framed in a 8x10. If he would allow it, I would post it here. They have the biggest smiles. :goodvibes

I don't get it. Do the Iraqi's have to be fingerprinted to vote? We don't do it in this country, we only fingerprint criminals and Church volunteers (j/k). Why would the Iraqi's have to be fingerprinted to vote? Is there no voter registration?
