We are DVC members with AKV as our home. Over the next 12-15 months, we anticipate about 3 trips - 1 week each. We are thinking about signing up for Owner's Locker, but are wondering what all to use it for. We can come up with some toiletries and adult beverage ingredients, but we are wondering what other DVC members do with the purple box. Ideas please!

We love our OL. The owners are friendly, but professional. We have never been disappointed-our locker usually arrives before we do and we get a phone message letting us know when it arrives.

We store the following: toiletries, a router, sun hats, shorts and shirts, small pillows, basic drug store items (aspirin, band aids, sunscreen, antacids, etc) ponchos, umbrella, hairbrush, sharpie, scissors, small personal comforter, fuzzy socks, scotch tape, extension cord, and lots of other stuff. The locker holds quite a lot so we can feel more at home without overpacking.

We could not survive without our Owners Locker! We are coffee drinkers...a little spoiled and want immediate gratification so we have a single cup Keurig brewer in ours. We also have laundry detergent, dryer sheets, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, personal toiletry items (deodorant, eyemakeuo remover, etc...) Generally we just bring clothes from home and not a lot as we wash in the suites. We also have our rain capes, a backpack for the parks, suntan lotions, aspirin, bandaids....You can fit a lot of stuff in the Owners Lockers...well worth the money and they are always there waiting for you when you get to your resort!!!!

:dance3:

We have everything listed in the first 2 responses, plus framed pictures of all of our grandkids (makes it feel like home).
The single serve Keurig is wonderful (we're big coffee drinkers).

We also have a second Locker that is our 'Office Away From Home'. Yes, we have to work mornings while we're at WDW but it's worth it, as we can stay for longer periods of time. In it are 2 Flat Screens (for our laptops), 2 keyboards (we hate laptop keyboards), a laser printer, paper, stapler....all the things necessary for our 'office'.

We love our Owner's Locker, too! We have everything we need for our trips in the locker, so we only have to pack our clothes in our carry-ons. Not having to pay for checked bags has made the locker pay for itself. It has also made packing so much easier, and we never have to worry about forgetting something. In fact, we love our OL so much that we made a mini version to keep at my in-laws' house when we visit them.

Couldn't agree more! We have so much in it I keep a spreadsheet of what we have and what we need. I also have one at my Mom's house and it makes traveling so much nicer.

Can you post the average expected cost of the owners box?

From the website:

How much does it cost? There is a one time Membership Fee to join Owner's Locker of $75.00 (which includes your Locker and your initial delivery/pickup which we call a Visit) and a yearly storage/delivery plan which you choose. The Standard Annual Plan costs $99.00 per year and includes storage in our climate controlled warehouse and one free Visit per year. Additional Visits are $25.00 each. The Premium Annual Plan costs $179.00 per year and includes storage in our climate controlled warehouse and unlimited visits per year.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any discounts.

I love everyone's ideas for uses. . . keep them coming!!

We are OL owners also. While our last trip was the first time we've used it we LOVED it!! I packed almost everything we brought with us in it. I put stuff from coffee filters to swimmies and life vests to ponchos to laundry detergent. They give you a sheet to fill out so as you're packing you know what you have in there when you get home. You add it to your online dashboard on their site and just print it out before your next trip. They were soooooo great!! They sent me a text to let me know the locker was there and when they picked it up. At that time we had also rented a stroller from them(magic strollers) and I got texts for that delivery and pick up also.

We have a trip coming up in a couple of days and I printed out my master packing list I had made a long time ago. I crossed off about 90% of what was on that list. I only have to bring clothes and normal stuff we'd need for the drive down. After everything I put in the locker there was still room for more. As people will tell you it may look smaller in pictures, but it can hold SO MUCH STUFF!!! This is definitely money well spent in our eyes!

I'm sorry though I don't know of any discounts that they are running right now.

LOVE my locker.

Tolietries, robe, wine opener, Trading pins, Disney "purse" , snacks, umbrealla, jacket, sweatshirt, spare socks, spare t -shirt, sometimes there is wine or other 'adult beverages' just depends etc...

Folks have already mentioned a lot of great things to keep in your OL. Besides many of those items, we also keep a brita water pitcher, pump soaps for each sink, a nebulizer for our asthma-prone daughter, a couple of those pressurized water spritzer things for cooling off (the kids like playing with them), a few packets of instant oatmeal, some tea bags, and a side of beef. Ok, maybe not the side of beef, but that plastic purple box can hold a LOT of stuff. We love our OL and are excited to reunite with it tomorrow! :)

We just moved in to our 2nd box.

Between the money we save on bagge fees from the airlines & the money we save buying extra hoodies for the 4 of us when ther's a cold snap the cost is more than justified.

Wonderful service brought to you by amazing people :worship: :worship: :worship:

Wow - those are all great ideas. It makes me want a purple box too. I think I'll send my husband some info on it. :goodvibes

We love our OL :thumbsup2

Off the top of my head we have crocs, shorts, bathing suits, a brita, an air purifier, toiletries, alcohol, reusable water bottles, brushes, combs, straigtening iron, general toiletries/bathroom items, random papers with phone numbers for things around disney, my bag that I use to walk around the parks, hats... and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember

Love my Owner's Locker. Oops, I mean Lockers. Got a second one recently.

To add to what others have said they keep in their lockers:

- a tap light, so that if I wake up in the dark I don't have to try to figure out how to turn on the lamp.

- an alarm clock because I just don't like those ipod home things.

- A calculator so that if I charged stuff to the room, I can make sure the bill is correct before I check out.

- Ziploc bags

- Flip-flops

- Thorlo Thin Cushion Running socks with Coolmax, to prevent blisters.

- A sweatshirt. Gotta have one for cool mornings/evenings, but it would take up a lot of suitcase space!

In general I love my Owner's Locker. Their service is fabulous and they are really nice people.

However, I had a problem with mine last time I as there (just a couple of weeks ago). I had stored an unopened bottle of wine that I had bought on my previous trip. I didn't want to take it home in my suitcase, so I packed it (fully wrapped) in my owners locker. I also had a couple of unopened bottles of water that I put in there. When I opened my owners locker and happily unwrapped the wine, I noticed that a bit of wine had seeped out of lid (It was a non cork lid, just a screwtop) and was all moldy, or whatever it is that grows in wine). The material the bottle was wrapped in wasn't very damp - it was just a little leakage through the screwtop - and no breaks in the bottle or seal that I could see. There was very little liquid that was missing from the bottle. Also, the water bottles had their lids fully intact and sealed, but were 'sucked in'. It just struck me that they all went flying on an aiplane or something where the pressure was really changed. I was sad to dump the wine - but I'm curious if anyone else has had this happen?

I don't remember everything we put in our locker and I forgot to write it down as we were struggling to get out by checkout time! The biggies are the contour pillow that I need for getting a good nights sleep, the other large item is a raised toilet seat for my partner who is disabled, then we can have a standard room and don't need a special request. Those two items take up a lot of space, but we still got a whole lot more in there. I also have a Britta pitcher. I've also got kosher salt, a Mickey pepper grinder, some knives. I believe that we put some other non perishable foods like Lipton noodle soup, spaghetti & canned goods. We also put baggies, aluminum foil and reusable containers. Also I believe we left our ponchos and full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There's more, but I don't remember. It should make for a fun time in 38 days when I open it up in BLT!

We have had stored as many as 12 bottles of wine in our locker without any issue or leakage, but have always stored corked bottles. IMO, screw top wine bottles do invite some potential leakage. Was the bottle stored upright or laying down?

I know that the lockers are all kept in a climate controlled storage facility (air-conditioned) so it's not a situation where the lockers are exposed to high temperatures (or low temperatures). While the Purple Van does stay very busy every day, it rarely leaves the ground so changes in air pressure are generally not an issue. :)

Buying DVC changed our vacation style and when we got our Owner's Lockers our style changed again. It is so easy to pack and unpack for our DVC trips. I get cranky now when we travel to other places and I have to pack all the miscellaneous stuff that is always waiting for us in our Owner's Lockers. In terms of making my vacation more stress free, Owner's Locker is the best investment we've made. And now that most airlines charge for checked baggage, Owner's Locker is a money saver because we can travel so light.

I plan on using my Owner's Locker for the first time during our trip at the end of May. I am going to ship a box of items to my resort before I fly down. A few of the things that I plan on leaving in my locker are a sleep number memory foam pillow , set of bed sheets, wireless router, misc etc. I am sure that I will think of more that I can jam in there!
