Please give me your honest opinion of the Purex 3 in 1. I bought a box and I am getting ready to try it but I just thought I would ask others. I am especially curious about the anti-static qualities of using it as a dryer sheet. I usually use Arm & Hammer detergent but Bounce dryer sheets are a must in my house.

Thanks in advance!!!

I use them when camping. It's so easy to take one thing to the laundry. The anti-static quality works fine, but I generally use them in the summer when I am camping. Static cling not nearly as big a problem in the summer.I don't use them at home because I can get other detergents cheaper with coupons. I am highly allergic to Bounce and cannot use it at all.

As the PP stated the 3-1 sheets are good for camping, vacation, etc. They are not good for your weekly wash loads (Purex has very little cleaning agent-it's mostly water). The anti-static feature is very good. I would try them out for every once in a while, but they are rather pricey for a product that doesn't really clean well.

Pretty soon you will be able to get laundry detergent in tablet form (highly concentrated) so that will be a great choice once available.

We have used Laundry Dropps and the Purex Sheets.
They do OK as detergent - and not even quite that good as dryer sheets.

I personally can't stand dryer sheets due to the residue they leave on your clothing - and they clog up the lint filter on your dryer as well.

If you have been using dryer sheets for quite a while, take your lint filter out and run water over top of it. When I did it to my parents dryer, water would not even run through the filter.

Plus I like to clean my glasses with my undershirt - and dryer sheets leave a gummy film on my glasses.

SO - with that being said - if I complain about how bad they are as dryer sheets.... they are poor excuses for dryer sheets.

Instead, we just use Downy wash.

For detergent though - I REALLY suggest Laundry Dropps - just google and look for them at your local grocery store!

I travel a lot for work, and that's what I usually use - they travel well, are perfectly measured - and it's the best detergent I've ever used!

We had major problems with the Purex sheets in our washer.

A few weeks ago, our washer began not working properly -- not draining water, and a smoky smell while it was in use. We called the Maytag repairman, and he found, inside the pump, a Purex sheet. It was sucked into the pump, when the water drained, and began to block water.

I googled "Purex shet" and found this was not an uncommon problem. We've asked Purex for a refund of the repair bill -- we'll see what happens.

Do not use them in a front load washer. They do clog the the pumps of front load machines.

They work really well in our top load machine, they clean our clothes well, and the dryer sheet component seems to work as well as any other we've used.

Thanks Chuck! We have a top loader and I am pretty sure they still have top loaders at Pop Century.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I don't know about POP or the coin-op machines there. We only stay at POP for a night or two, and have never used the laundry facilities. At DVC resorts some of the resort laundry facilities are top load and some are front load. But DVC doesn't always use standard coin-op style machines.

Sears had to come fish one out of the pump of our front loader right before Christmas. Our washer wouldn't drain or spin. Luckily, it happened about 2 weeks before our extended warranty expired, therefore, it didn't cost us anything for the repair. I didn't entend the warranty, so we've stopped using them altogether.

My washer was a top loader, and the Purex clogged our washer pump.

I have a top loader and use these exclusively giving them 2 thumbs :thumbsup2:thumbsup2up for detergent strength, scent, and cleaning ability and a half thumbs up for dryer static control. The sheet does well in a small dryer load but anything over that I throw in a fabric sheet. Never had any of the troubles the other posters had...my routine is to put one on top right under the water flow and make sure it's soaked thoroughly before shutting the lid. I especially love no plastic bottles to haul in the groceries and to recycle. When at WDW I do laundry at ASMo and those are top loaders--the sheets are wonderful for travel.

I've only used them when traveling, besides once at home to "test" it. I found the fragrance too strong, even on the hypoallergenic ones, so I cut off the fabric softener portion and that solved the problem. (I have allergies and use all unscented products usually) Works fine as a detergent! Can't comment on the fabric softener part, because I got rid of it.

For the PP who mentioned that soon tablets would be available, they were widely available for a couple of years but now are impossible to find.

::yes:: Laundry tablets have come and gone throughout at least the last 50 years. I remember Salvo tablets when I was a child. Purex also had a disolvable laundry packet.

Unfortunately, even today, many tablets will leave a residue on your clothes. Likely because they are pressed together under so much pressure they don't dissolve completely.

I use them on vacation and here at home - never had a problem.

We used them daily while staying at WDW they were great, light weight and compact for travel. Actually we bought them in Hawaii and then took them to use at wdw. However not sure I would use them for daily at home laundry they are pricey for doing 5 loads a day.

I love them for when we travel. They are easy to pack and dont take up much space. I cant use them at home though because we have a front loader.

Saw the Purex 3-in-1 mentioned in an article in a women's magazine recently (I think it was Good Housekeeping). They were reviewing different products, and said the the 3-in-1 was not a good product (although I can't remember the reason why).

I just pack enough dry Tide in a ziploc bag (enough for two loads, plus a little more for hand-washing things like swimsuits). And toss a couple of dryer sheets in your bag, and you're all set!

We used them last summer during our Disney trip and they were just ok. We found that even the vending machine tide boxes did a better job of cleaning, but for a lighter load they were fine.

I am staying in a 2bdrm at BLT in June with 9 people and we will defenitly be needing to use the washing machine. Are tide boxes available at the BLT resort vending machines?
