Purchasing Unused Hopper Passes

Has anyone ever purchased the unused portion of a hopper pass before? Can you even do this. My family will going on a Disney Cruise and thought about spending the day we get back at Animal Kingdom, but I know that we will have more time left that day and would like to go to EPCOT for dinner and the fireworks. Any suggestions on how to do this.

It's illegal to sell partially used hopper passes. That said, some people do sell partially used passes and as far as I know, it isn't against the law to actually use them. As far as Disney is concerned, passes are non-transferrable.

Buying partially used passes from a stranger is risky. There is no way to tell ahead of time how many days are actually remaining on the pass. You have to take the pass to Guest Services to find out for sure. If the pass turns out to be something other than what you were told, you have no recourse with Disney. You are just out the money.

Without a multi-day pass of some kind, I know of no way to visit AK and EPCOT on the same day without buying two 1 Day/1 Park tickets for each member of your party aged 3 and over. There is a small discount if you buy two 1 day tickets for the same person at the same time. You might consider buying a 4 (or more) day hopper pass and saving the remaining days for a future trip. The unused days never expire.

Good point about illegal. I didn't know that. I will have to look at my options. Gee, maybe I will have to spend two days at WDW.

I would consider buying a hopper with a day or 2 left on it or one day hoppers from someone on ebay. I would makesure that the person had a great feedback profile though. Ebay people are quite honest and no one wants to get a negative feedback. I would use extreeme caution but I would consider it.

I had read on several posts that ebay does not allow the sale of partially used passes any more because it is illegal to sell them.
If you buy new multiday passes, you can always use the days up on a later trip.

We are going at the end of Sept (and yes, staying at the Marriott). We decided to upgrade and get Annual Passes so we can go again in Feb. That's the reason I am trying to get rid of the park hoppers. I have tried to call Disney directly and see what kind of credit I will get for them but Disney has been vague to say the least.

I personally would not take a risk to buy "unused" park hoppers. Bottom line is regardless if the person is trustworthy or not, you DO NOT know if the tickets are valid. There is no number you can call, nothing. And It's not worth the risk of loosing money for IMHO. And it's illegal!

Why don't you just used your hoppers when you go and then get the annual passes after they are used. It will just be a later day next year that you have to buy your next ones then!

I want to remind everyone that we do not allow posts offering unused days on multi-day passes for sale. I also want to offer my usual word of caution about buying unused days on passes. It is impossible to determine how many days are left on unused passes without presenting the pass at WDW to be read by their computer. I would highly recommend against the purchase of unused days on a multi-day pass unless you have some sort of recourse against the seller (like I know where you live!). You can always return to a friend or family member and let them know that the pass had only two days left instead of four and ask for money back.

You can trade in your unused Park hopper days towards your new AP. I had one day left on a five day hopper that I traded in this past July (I think I got around $46 credit!) They just divide the number of days by the pass price and give you credit for any unused days. I could not do this at my hotel guest service. I did it at the EPCOT ticket window.

I have to agree with CarolA - if the passes are new. But if they are older passes, I would save them to use later. Of course, I would save them period - they do not get any cheaper - and I will use them one day. Another, if I had known then, what I know now!

The problem with E-bay is they do not monitor these things. Once a member reports the problem, then someone looks at it and takes action ???!! (Sometimes)

If you know you are doing two trips to WDW within 12 months, go ahead and buy annual passes instead of using the remainder of older hopper passes. Then when the AP has expired, pull out the hopper passes for yet the next trip.

E-Bay does a pretty good job of culling listings for bootleg Song of the South videos (practically all NTSC VHS tapes, playable in standard U.S. VCR's, are bootlegs. There is reportedly a very rare English soundtrack version with all Japanese labels and box that is genuine but there are also lots of Japanese labeled bootlegs too.)

So I expect they do a good although not perfect job of getting rid of listings for non-transferable tickets such as partially used WDW hopper passes.

Illegal E-Bay listings have a tendency to receive bids high enough that no smart buyer will outbid, and then the winning bidder intentionally renegs. The seller then has to apply to E-Bay for a refund of the seller's commission and then he gets his reprimand for the illegal listing.
