Purchasing Universal annual pass

I didn't think the renewal price applied to tickets purchased under the pay monthly scheme.
can't remember where I read it though sorry - so I may be mistaken

I tried to purchase using the monthly option, it won't accept my card for some reason, could it be that it is a debit card, rather than a credit card?

I shall try again later with my credit card rather than the debit card ...

Regarding annual passes, when does the year start? Is it from date of purchase or date of first use?

If you are renewing they start when your old one ends. If its a new one its on 1st use.

Wish I'd asked the question before. I assumed it was date of purchase for new ones. Will keep an eye open for any deals e.g. 2 years for price of one or free 6 months etc and then buy.

Sometimes, if they have an offer on like 2 years for price of 1 they will set a date they have to be activated by. If you don't activate by that date they activate automatically.

We took advantage of this offer back in August for this year's holiday. I presumed the tickets would run from the end of September 2007 for two years. When we went for the tickets, the tickets have on them 9th July 2008. Can I presume our tickets will run from two years from this date and not the September one? Is there any way of checking, other than ringing them up?

Thanks.

Yes, you can log into the passholders website & check the expiry date.

Mine was supposed expire in September under the bogof offer but it seems we have all been given 2 years from the date of first use :)

It seems that the money for the monthly payment is floating in "bank air", although the site would not accept my card, the exact amount is the difference between my balance and my available balance, I am assuming that this will be take off hold and back into my account in the next few days - all very strange !

Thanks Tracey, I will do that when I have a minute and dig out the passes.:goodvibes

Thats great if they have, even better value.:goodvibes

thanks for that link Wayne. I checked out ap and our expiry date is in 2010 which is excellent.

Success at last, using my credit card rather than debit card. I was hoping to check the hotel rates but I don't collect my pass until we get there. I have a confirmation number on the e-mail but assume I won't get my annual pass numbers until we get there, so I'm not able to access the annual pass site.

You don;t need your actual AP to check the AP hotel rates :) No need to go via the AP site

Do a price search on the Universal website for your dates, click 'start over' and then put APH in the promotions box :thumbsup2

We have just written to Universal to request a refund on our Annual Passes for a few reasons.

Whilst we have had them before and they are great value for money we definitely have other plans in 2010, so although we go next April we will not be doing so the following year.

In addition we are staying on-site at Polynesian for a few days so reckon we will be going to Universal no more than 4 times on the holiday, so even with the free parking/discounts it's not really suited for us.
Probably look at the $89 tickets when we get the refund back.
