Ok I have rented points for our upcoming vacation, and with a family inc. 3 kids, and vacationing for 2 weeks , a villa is definetely the way to go. We have stayed in an offsite villa previously but missed missed the wonderful pools, landscaping and theming of the Disney resorts. Also when we went home for lunch we ended up not wanting the effort of driving back to the parks.
I have seen some excellent deals via the timeshare company listed here and was wondering how long it takes to complete and what is the benefit of buying right from Disney at $20 per point more ?????

Resale will be the cheapest way to go in this situation. Either OKW or BWV (standard view) will be the cheapest points for you. OKW will have the cheapest dues as well. For 3 kids and two weeks, you're looking at a 2 BR I'd expect. If you will go every year and go for just twelve days but with only one Friday and Saturday night, you're looking at around 450 points at OKW or BWV standard view for summer, more for Xmas or Easter and less for off times. If you looked at most of the other resorts including BWV preferred, WLV or BCV; you will be looking at an additional 100 points. Of course it you do not expect to go every year, you could get by with less points with banking and borrowing.

Other considerations would be where you like to stay, will you go every year, will you have a car, might you need a 3 BR for some trips with family or friends. The new resort from DVC is Saratoga Springs. It's points will be in between the above amounts and will have 3 BR Grand Villas as well. The location will be similar to OKW though closer to DD. What's best for one family in this situation is not the same as another family so if you give us more info, we can narrow down our suggestions.

You can save on resale and likely get by for $68-72 pp, esp at OKW. That's a savings of roughly $10 pp compared to buying at SSR, depending on specifics. Do your trip and look at the resorts as much as you can. Do the tour but don't buy till you've had a chance to compare to resale more thorough, esp for this many points. You could also consider buying less points at multiple resorts though it may add to your costs a bit. Good luck.
