Hello all. My daughter (20) didnt renew her AP (DVC) with us last Nov. She is planning a trip in July and wants to purchase a new DVC AP.
Question is if I purchase that for her before the trip how will she be able to activate it without me being there to show my DVC membership card?
My husband and I just reactivate ours last week in Epcot and had to show my DVC card

I'd call member services, to double check...they may put a note in the account for you.

Then (assuming her drivers license address matches yours, and she lives at home) I'd have her snap a photo of your DVC Membership card. Or you can access an online card through the member website, save it to your phone, and send it to her phone.

Did I hear correctly that for the DVC AP, now you activate it just by entering the park, no trip to GS needed. Or did I just hope? Because, when we went to use the discount at restaurants, they always asked to see the actual card, not just MB.

New APs must still be activated in person at a Guest Relations Location or Park Ticket Window. The setting of the expiration date (under most circumstances) is now done upon first usage.

For discounts, you can do the AP just like the DVC card. In the My DIsney Experience App, go to your tickets, show the AP and take a screenshot. They likely will still want to see your photo ID, though.

I activated my gold AP a few days ago. First, despite the website saying I could print out the card and show it, the CM at guest relations at the MK wouldn't accept it. I had to show him a screen shot on my phone (like that is any more definitive!).
Second, he gave me grief about not having the blue card itself, which I have requested THREE times over 9 months and never received.
Third, he did not give me a physical card. Was I supposed to get one?

We have a an actual plastic AP card and the blue DVC card and are often required to show it for discounts. They always give us the AP card at guest services -we did have to request the DVC card for my husband a couple of times before we actually got one in the mail.

They are not giving out physical AP cards by default anymore, because they found that people having multiple cards was a source of fraud. We realized they did not give us our new card, and we went back and asked about it. At that time, they gave us the new cards.

I did this exact thing for my son, who lives with us but went to college in Florida. I bought the AP over the phone through Member Services (with DVC discount). They put a note on my file so my son could pick up the pass at Guest Services by showing his driver’s license and a copy of my DVC card. It was no problem at all. In fact, we’ve done it 3 or 4 times.

That’s the only way to use the discount, though. So that’s silly of them.
No it isn't, you can show them your virtual DVC membership card on your phone. It worked for me fine earlier this month, the same with the AP discount, look up "your tickets" in the Disney app and take a screenshot...save it to your photos. Have your photo ID handy, though.

We activated at MK on Sunday. Two ID’s and DVC card were immediately asked for -screenshot of blue DVC Card was accepted- and AP cards issued without request.

I went to a different park guest relations office, and walked out with my card and an apology in less than 5 minutes.
