Purchasing Magic Bands

I’m trying to purchase Magic Bands for our upcoming trip through My Disney Experience. When I get to the checkout page I don’t see any option to purchase with a Disney Gift Card, only a credit card. Am I missing something? I think I could buy magic bands with a GC through Shop Disney or once we get onsite but then I won’t get the resort discount, right? TIA

Not sure if you’ve gotten this figured out yet but you are correct that you can only get the discount by purchasing through your resort reservation. As for the gift card, I’m not sure. I already had my credit card attached to the reservation so it defaulted to that when I purchased ours. Have you tried going through MDE on the Disney World website? Sometimes things show up differently on there than they do going through the app, though in theory they should be the same. Hope you can (or did) get this figured out!

Thank you for the response! I just purchased the magic bands through MDE. I tried on my phone, iPad and computer in case mobile vs desktop made a difference, but it didn’t. I could enter a new CC, in addition to the ones already stored in my account, but there was no where to enter a DGC which I find bizarre since you can pay for tickets and resorts using DGCs.

No option to use a gift card for MagicBands purchased through MDE. And it is correct that if you waited and bought them at a gift shop, you would not get the pre-arrival discount, or have them linked or personalized.

No real reason other than the pre-arrival MagicBand purchases are a different department, kind of their own little entity.
