Purchasing ILL when Attraction Down?

Playing around with the Genie app, I just noticed that RSR was down (when is it not these days?) and I clicked on LL. It gave me the option of purchasing an ILL returning at 2pm (in 20 minutes) even though the attraction is not working right now. Granted, I don't have tickets so I don't actually know if the purchase would go through. Has anyone actually had this happen? Doesn't seem to be a glitch since WebSlingers is also down and offering ILL's returning at 2:50pm. Strange that the app would take people's money in the hope the ride would come back online. We were there for over a week and RSR was down almost the whole time. That would have been a lot of purchases and refunds...

And for that matter, what's up with all the closures all the time these days?? As I type this there are 7 attractions down in DCA. I know we experienced more attractions closing multiple times a day (and some never coming back for days, I'm looking at you, RSR) than we've ever experienced before. Any insider news? Or is this the new norm?

The ride breakdowns have become really commonplace. However, it has also been raining pretty hard on and off, and some rides shut down in those conditions.

Genie definitely does not recognize when rides are down. When I was there last Saturday at 2:30 it recommended I go on Luigi’s… which was down.

It also kept recommending I make reservations at table service locations that did not have any reservations available.

I know everyone likes to complain about the Genie, but you would’ve thought that those two things are basic checks they would’ve included!

Wow. That’s ridiculous and too funny!! Ok, so can I confirm that the ILL refunds are returned to your purchase payment method now and not gift cards? Hoping that was just a first day thing.

There was a thread on twitter somewhere of a guy following whatever Genie free version planner was giving him and it was a disaster. Great for spacing out your day, not really great for prioritizing what you wanna do. And indeed it keeps offering experiences that are not available, like down rides, Sabi's lightsabers and things like that.

If anyone even whispers the word "rain", RSR goes down. Same with Test track and Journey to the Center of the earth. That ride system just doesn't like it.

The tires on Test Track and RSR literally have no treads, so they cannot operate in heavy rain or once the track is visibly wet.

Yeah there’s no way I’m gonna use the free planning tool. Like I’ve been to DL 13 times and WDW 4 times so I think I know how to tell when it’s a good time to go on a ride or not

I used to use RideMax but since I’ve stopped I’ve had much more fun. Disney is (in my opinion) a lot more fun when you go with the flow and only plan out a few things (dining, where to rush first, what LL to get first, etc) instead of planning everything way in advance and being frustrated when it doesn’t work out right lol
