Purchasing first DVC through Disney, is there a guide somewhere?

I've decided that I would like to purchase a DVC in the next few years and I've decided that I would like to purchase my first through Disney and that I would really like to buy into the Disneyland Hotel if and when it becomes available. I know this will likely take a few years so I want to be prepared going into this.

Is there a guide or thread somewhere for purchasing your first DVC specifically through Disney? Also, is there a guide or something about DVC contracts in general?
