I used the calculator and to stay at the Wilderness Lodge (my husband's favorite place) it would use 615 points.

What kind of price does the points sale for?

What kind of financing does Disney due?

If you only bought 400 points but needed 615 points, due you pay the difference or do you save for the next year and pay full price for the current year?

I have wanted to sit through a DVC site at Disney but have been reluctant for fear of being pressured into purchasing.

I have a family of three and we spend two weeks at Disney every year. So far, we have been trying out a new resort each year.

Any advise or answers to the above questions would be greatful.

I am wondering about those points.... 615 is an awful lot of points. What type of room did you select? With only 3 people, you really only need a studio, though a 1 BR would be nice, too. And even in high season, it's not 615 points for 2 weeks. Disney is selling at $72 per point, though you can get points cheaper by going through a resaler but you will have to pay closing costs with them but not with Disney. Disney does have it's own financing. You can check with them for the rate. Through a resaler, you will need to set up your own financing. If you purchased 400 and needed 615, you could "borrow" points from the following use year and then the next year you would have that many less points to use. Go ahead and do the DVC tour, there is NO pressure to buy.

We go to OKW for up to 29 days a year on 380 points. We usually have a 1 or 2 bedroom, so I can't figure how VWL could be 615.

Glad you came to ask questions. DVC is a tricky concept to understand at first. I'd go ahead and send for the information from DVC because it does a good job of getting you started and you won't get any high pressure sales call.

Let's try to help out your point figuring because I think something isn't right.

First, the calculator here still includes the regular Wilderness Lodge as an option. Luckily, they've built a DVC villa complex at WL where you would be staying as a DVC member. The size of the villa (studio, 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom) and the time of year and weekdays vs. Fri.-Sat. make a difference in the number of points you need.

For your 615 points you could stay in a studio during January, September, October, most of Nov or the first half of December for about 6 weeks!

Pick a time of year and how long you'd stay as an example and I'll give you an idea of how many points it would take.

If you wouldn't be going every year you wouldn't need all those points but instead could "borrow" from the next year....but that's the next step.
