Hello!

So I know that if you purchase a Riviera resale you can only book there, and all that jazz. BUT what if I own there and then gift it to someone years from now? Is a gift considered a resale, or is that just the same contract?

Current rules grandfather a gratuitous transfer, which may or may not match what you are calling a gift. If you’re going to do this, I’d title it to a trust or an LLC from the jump.

Of course, Blue Card rules can change or even be eliminated completely.

This is a question for your estate lawyer.

If you gift your contract I believe all privileges also transfer with the gift I asked dvc about gifting a contract to my kids and that is what I was told

Yes. A gratuitous transfer to immediate family for sure carries all the same benefits.

However, I don’t know if it applies to anyone. That would be a question for MA.

We just completed a gratuitous transfer of OKW points from my in laws to my husband and myself. They bought in 1995 and I was just able to use the points to book the wish DVC sailing so they definitely retained their direct benefits. It’s also funny that we got sent new membership cards and what’s odd is that my husband’s card says member since 1995 but my card attached on the same mailing says since 2012. I have to admit I got a little jealous of my hubby’s card although that would have made me an owner at 15 🤣
