Purchasing BLT questions

Are all the points on sale now, or only for a certain number of units? What I am really wanting to know is about Use Years. If all points are available now, is it possible that a particular Use Year could potentially sell out faster than others?

When they sold SSR and added in new units, were all Use Year's available with the newest points?

If I want to end up with 200 BLT points and I plan to break it up into smaller contracts, why should I buy them all now? Why not purchase 2 50's now and 2 50's a little bit down the road? The only reason I can come up with is that a Use Year may become unavailable. Anyone else come up with reasons to give them all my money now rather than to hold on to it for a little while longer?

All Use Years will begin sales tomorrow, September 21, 2008. Sales will be only to existing members - thus all Use Years will be available. Pricing is $112 (with a $5 discount incentive for 100 points or more) and the first 1000 buying 160 or more points will have their names engraved on the Tempo Fountain at the resort.

As for when to purchase, depending on how brisk sales may be, some Use Years may go before others and if you want to buy 200 points, you could get your name on the Fountain if purchased all at one time.

Good luck with your decision. :)

Thanks for the response. I could care less about my name on the fountain, certainly not enough to do one 160 point purchase.

Still wondering are ALL points on sale as of tomorrow. For other resorts, weren't points available as the construction progressed? Since BLT is all one building, does that mean all points are available now and that all units will be available for stays at the same time?

I just got the BLT mailing today.

I noticed an interesting thing on the back inside page:

Current Member prices at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort start at $5,600 for a 50 Vacation Point Add On.

Are they raising the minimum add on to 50 points? 3 years of 25 points wouldn't get you a week in any of the rooms anyways...36 (35 1/3 actually) would seem to be the minimum for that (Studio SV Adventure = 106).

No, all of the units have not been declared into inventory. So far, I think only a couple of "units" are being sold, but DVC will add to that inventory as sales progress until everything has been declared. Since this is really a pre-sale and nothing is yet ready for use this will be handled much like BWV, VWL and BCV were sold where the entire building was completed when it opened (HH was the same even though it is not one building). OKW, VB, SSR and now AKV are/were built in phases and they could add specific buildings as they were completed. In the case of OKW, each building itself was a "unit", but later resorts are not that way where "units" are a group of villas within the building.

VWL was completely open and being occupied with CRO cash reservations for over a month before DVC sales even began. The inventory at VWL was added as needed while sales were going on. The resort opened in November, 2000 and sales did not begin until December, 2000 and I don't think DVC points could be used there until early 2001.

BLT will not be open for stays until September, 2009 - when both cash reservations and DVC reservations may be used. It's possible that the entire resort could have been declared into inventory by that time - but that certainly remains to be seen.

No, that is just being used as an example - the minimum purchase is still 25 points, 50 for DVC financing, 100 to get the $5 discount incentive and 160 to get your name engraved on the Tempo Fountain (limited to the first 1000 buyers at that level or more).
