Purchasing BCV direct....

BWV standard view studios for F&W are getting more and more popular. Even if you book at 11 months, you cannot be assured of getting one - there are members who "walk" those reservations every year, so you may find that the first night of your reservation is already booked when you need to book. This is especially true for the time around Columbus Day.

So if that's the time you want to use BWV points, I wouldn't give BWV much of an advantage (for cost) over BCV.
Except the current listing prices are insane comparatively speaking. If one wanted to ignore the standard view, BCV is still quite a bit more expensive and then there is always the possibility of the standard view which isn't difficult to get if one plans day one at opening 11 months out but may require a wait list at times.

How do you figure that? Resale contract prices run a little bit higher for BCV (around $5-10 or so per point) but the points chart is virtually the same as BWV garden/boardwalk view rates. MF are comparable as well.

Right, the scientific mathematical formula I always use is BWV=BCV-SAB. Thus, BWV is a nonstarter for us. But some people aren't big swimmers and prefer being on the boardwalk, so it's just a matter of preference like everything else. I walk over to the boardwalk all the time, but definitely want access and proximity to SAB first and foremost. We are also 1BR minimum, so studio availability isn't usually a big deal for us unless we are bringing a guest and want a 2BR lock-off (like we had last week, which was very convenient!)
I use the equation BCV = BWV-parking issues. Parking at BCV is so much easier than BWV, especially in October. Plus you can get dedicated two bedroom villas at BCV and they don't exist at BWV. But BWV does have GV and BCV doesn't have any.

I think currently $10 a point is about the best difference one can get plus it's likely to be a better contract with BWV. I'd call $1500-2000 quite a bit different, in 2042 it'll exceed $10K difference. If you add in the standard view option even a small part of the time you easily exceed the $2K line up front. If that's not a lot to you then we disagree. The difficulty booking BWV standard was mentioned but is it any easier at BCV in general, I think not.

I take your point. I guess it's all relative. To me, in the context of a large, 25-year investment, $2000 isn't a big difference to get what I really want vs. what I could live with. But that's just my view; others would certainly disagree.

I think that this is where our family is as well. We love the BVC so for us to know that we will be able to stay where we love glosses over the fact the we will be spending more money. However, BWV is a lovely resort and would suit our purposes just as well on the surface.....UGH, choices!

I have been having issues getting a direct BCV contract. I was initially told that I would be put on a waitlist, and he said that eventually it will come through. He said it might be a week, it might be a few months, but eventually something would come through for me on the waitlist.

Well, then he called me back about a week later and I was so excited because I thought he was calling to tell us that our waitlist came through! Unfortunately, he was calling to let me know that DVC had eliminated the waitlist for that resort, and the only way I would get it was if something happened to pop up and he can grab it before anyone else. So now I have to depend on this guy competing with other sales associates, and basically it is luck of the draw. Maybe he will get it, maybe not. I really want BCV so I don't really know what else I can do. I am not exceptionally interested in resale, but if this goes on too long we may consider it.

Oh Oh. I'm purchasing 150 BCV points (should close this week) and was planning on adding 25 direct points ASAP.
Is my timing bad or what. :guilty:

I bought 175 Bcv points in December and then just added on 25 in March. I wanted the same uy (March) which is a smaller volume one. They don't no have a list and won't call you, so I emailed my rep weekly. Somehow they got the points on 4/1....the day after the uy started (and I couldntes get the prior year points) Coincidence?

Nonetheless it's possible, but you'll have to follow up regularly

Thank you. I'll give that a try. My UY is April which has a smaller volume than March does.

Did you send the same email over and over?

Yeah I just kept forwarding the same email each week. They would usually respond back the same day.

They probably just didn't have the prior year's points to offer you, hence not available until that date. The points either come from ROFR or foreclosure, and the contract(s) they came from were probably stripped of those points.

I like pools, but I hate having to walk through the BC lobby to get to SAB. And we don't drive, so parking isn't worth anything. So for me BCV+better pool access+view choices + grand villas =BWV. (The plus side is that with all the generic decorating, BCV has gotten rid of the ugliest couch in the world).

However, to Deans point - buying BWV and depending on getting a standard view studio over F&W to save half the cost of BCV isn't IMHO a winning plan - because those rooms are going fast and need to be walked - there isn't any guarantee you'll regularly get a BWV Standard View over F&W, even booking eleven months out. If you prefer BCV, buy it. It will be a little more expensive, but not twice.

My point was that any usage of standard view reduces BWV costs further compared to BCV AND that BCV is generally difficult to get so one could make exactly the same point about reserving BCV in general, there are no guarantees. For either resort one needs to reserve at 11 months out if possible and if one does that at opening 11 months out getting a reservation any time of year, including early Dec, is pretty much a lock if one uses the wait list appropriately.

I was going to call and see about getting BCV 100 points with August or September UY. Price is not a problem so my worry is will i be able to get the points direct

Have you talked to a guide about buying direct because I'm fairly sure they have stopped taking a wait list for BCV like they have done for VGF.

Resale might be your only option

Think it's a good point that a DVC venue per point cost is more than the room because we don't spend much time in the room while we do spend time at the DVC venue of choice. When comparing BC and BW the pool along with food/quick service local should be considered. I've stayed at both places and BW/BC pool or food/QS locals are NOT equal. The CM's are about the same.
