Purchasing air with DCL

We are thinking of purchasing the air through DCL for our cruise from JFK to MCO. We plan on flying in the day before the cruise also. Does anybody have any experience with the type of flights they give. (early, how many stops, late, long layovers?) We were going to purchase the air ourselves, but the airfare rt out of jfk is very high and we received a better fare through DCL. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated:thumbsup2

I've looked at options before, but was never pleased with what they had available.

You might get a better reponse over on the cruise board.

I have been told by several passengers going on the DCL that you can find better deals doing your own air and ground. A round trip from MCO with your own ground transportation could cost you $180.00 to $240.00 for up to 8 or 10 passengers. DCL ground is much higher and quite a bit slower. I have no experience on the air so can't tell you much about that except for what I have heard. Car service will take you straight to the hotel in Port Canaveral and pick you up at the cruise terminal when you leave the ship.

Using ground other than Disney you can find flights leaving MCO from 1030 - 1100 hours and have plenty of time to make the flights. You can get out of the Disney ship as early as 0730 if you know the process.

thanks everyone:thumbsup2

I do have it posted on the cruise forum but I wanted to widen my range of response.

Unfortunately we are travelling on a spring break for NYC and Long Island and Jetblue knows it so their round trip airfare is running in the area of $700 which is crazy. DCL is coming up cheaper but I am concerned about how many and how long their layovers are going to be so I was really looking for some feedback.

If you're planning on coming in the day before, I believe you'll also be paying a deviation fee to DCL, which is an extra charge of $50 per person. But the good thing is, you'll get to pick your flights then.
Given this is spring break, I'd give DCL a call and see what flights they do have available for you NOW before all the "good" (meaning nonstop) flights are gone.

I gave them a call. Don't have to pay $50 deviation for coming in the night before because I booked the Orlando Hyatt throught them. But I can pay $50 deviation per person to ensure a non-stop flight. I am going to wait until southwest comes out and if there fares are not good I may pay the money. My husband keeps saying don't bother we have all day before the cruise if the flight has a stop. I just don't want to have a long layover and sit in an airport all day.
