Purchasing a Woman's Plus Size Swim Suit anywhere in WDW??

No brand on the one that I just went through!!! Where I used to live there was a huge factory that manufactured swimsuits for many different companies. They had a true "factory outlet" at one end of the building that sold defectives and overruns and samples and was open to the public. No brand names because they had to cut the tags out of them before they could sell them. Prices were incredible--2 adult suits for $24, and 2 kids suits for $12. They often had the popular Disney styles that were being sold at Walmart and Kmart in town.

I sure miss that place! May have to plan a trip back to visit friends and pick up some suits!

I think I will have to bite the bullet and pay the "big money" to order from Lands End. I will probably just order 2, since I am pretty sure I need one of 2 sizes. It will kill me to pay almost $100 for a suit and shipping after 5 years of paying $12 a piece, but I guess I have to suck it up!!!! I am at the pool enough now that can justify the investment.

I appreciate the input from everyone. Just knowing that finding one at Disney could be a problem lets me know I need to make an alternate plan!

Being Pooh sized as well, I couldnt find anything on property last year when we went. Did you try Old Navy? If your local store has the Women's Plus line they may have some of their bathing suits in Clearance now. Always worth the shot and it wouldnt cost too much.

Good luck.

Saw plus sized suits at Blizzard Beach last year (Feb), you would have to ask at the gate if you can have a shopping pass, so you wouldn't have to use a day's admission to BB though.. and a size 16 (IIRC) tankini at the Polynesian store..

I think they probably sell quickly:)

I did buy myself a black "Hidden Mickey" sarong at the Polynesian shop last year. Really cute, fits great, love it:)

Good luck, and have a wonderful trip!

We found ourselves in seach of suits last November, both girls decided to "forget" their suits, then had hissy fits to swim. We looked everywhere, the shop at CR (where we were staying) that usually has suits had nothing, so we went to DTD and bought them at Summer Sands. I can attest that their prices are ridiculous! I paid $40+ each for one girls speedo tank suit (size 8) and one girls Roxy tankini (size 14). I looked around at their womens suits and was appalled at the prices, not to mention their lack of anything past a womens 10 (I was looking for a 12-14 for me). I then started looking around the resort shops on subsequent visits, I saw the exact same kids suits everywhere, with the same prices. I remember a womens Ralph Lauren that was well over $100 and some seperates that were priced the same. Their sportswear is also pricey, Tommy Bahama womens shorts that were around $100. :lmao: I truly wish you luck. I'm not quite Pooh sized, more like Piglet, but I found myself unable to find any suits that would fit me.

Wow! The Lands End site is so cool! (I'm easily impressed) Thanks for the tip!

I bought a suit from Lands End years ago and it has held up better than any of my department store suits that I bough after it. :) I did what a previous poster suggested, ordered several and returned the ones that didn't fit.

OP, if your trip is not for a few days could you have it express shipped to you or even have it shipped to you at the hotel. then take care of returns after you get home?

I know you say you aren't willing to leave Disney, BUT

There is a great swimwear outlet in the Permier Outlets mall that I highly recommend. HUGE selection of suits from itty bitty to Pooh size. (Plus there is the Disney outlet there too!)

I'm also plus-sized, and I remember buying a swimsuit at either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach a few years ago. In fact I remember being quite pleased by the selection (in my local stores, you usually get one or two designs in my size and that's it).

Good Morning!
Love to Scrap - another vote for the Lands' End suits! I have had one for years, and love it!
Another option is www.eddiebauer.com and www.eddiebaueroutlet.com. They don't have a huge selection, but they do carry D and DD cup-sizes for your *girls*! They are very good quality - expensive, but worth it! And most larger malls (out here in the west, anyway) have stores that you can return to. They also offer overnight shipping!
Good luck, and if all else fails - the cheap suit with a t-shirt always works!
Have a great trip!

I bought a bathing suit at that store in dtd. I bought a 22/24 and it was so cute - 2 piece with a little skirt. I love the color and have never regretted purchasing it. It was under $100 and for a good suit that I keep for years - it was so worth it to me.

I am so glad i saw this thread, my DD has been looking for a suit at the mall and it has been a frustrating experience. You know it is almost 'winter' and the suits are sooo picked over.
Hopefully she will find something and get it ordered for our trip. My DH works for Sears and I never knew you could return Lands End merchandise ordered throught the catalog...learn something new on these boards all the time. After looking at them I am tempted to order a new one for myself..

KAT--Thanks so much for posting this... I loved the suit, found a coupon code for free shipping, and the store is located only 150 miles away from me so it shouldn't take to long to get it... yay!

We visited over Labor Day weekend. I am a professional window shopper, and a size 22/24 - I had a hard time finding ANYTHING in woman's plus size, never mind a bathing suit.

We did not go to the water parks.

I think the Land's End idea is the best one. I have a Land's End Bathing suit and I love it. Good Luck!
