I've never even considered looking for listings in Facebook groups, but now you have me intrigued. Curious to see if anyone out there has gone this route as well.
I've seen a few here and there. I feel like someone who is trying to save on a broker commission is someone who is going to try to maximize their return, which would mean they are probably pricing it at what the brokers are selling at anyway.
You might be lucky and find an uneducated seller, but I'm sure in those large groups, all the vultures will swoop in as well.
I've seen some posts regarding DVC points for sale on FB, and they are generally in two categories.
1) There are those who've owned for many years and are looking to sell for a variety of reasons (grown kids, health, divorce etc). Those immediately get referred to brokers by other people.
2) There are those who I'd call "prolific renters" who may occasionally sell. I recognize them because their names show up constantly in the rental groups. As a potential buyer, those listings usually seemed priced comparable to broker sites, but I did not try to negotiate. At those prices, if I was buying, I'd rather go via a broker since I'm not the one paying a commission.
