Purchased magic band

i would like to purchase the Pluto magic band for my grandson for our June trip. When I receive it how do I link it to our account so we can go right to the parks when we get there or will we have to stop at front desk to have that done. Also I notice it does not have the new disc style. So will it still work or can you not use them anymore if old style

There will be a "number" on the band.
Put that number into your MyDisneyExperience account under the "MagicBands and Cards" page.

That page found is under the top right "MyDisneyExperience" pull-down menu.

There will be a serial number on the inside of the band. Go to the Magic Band and tickets section of MDE and add the number to your account then assign the band to your grandson. All bands will keep working at touch points (park entry, fp+ etc) but will eventually stop working for the long range rfid stuff (like names on small world and automatically linking your ride photos to your MDE account)
 

You can access MDE on your smartphone or iPad at the park or a computer at your home or hotel. They are very easy to link. I have done it before.

Hoping you can answer this as well; I purchased MB in 2016 for our fall trip. MB & park tickets loaded up just fine, made my ADR's & FP+ but a week before our trip I had to cancel everything. They are still in MDE as are my tickets (from Undercover Tourist). Are these bands still good to use? Could I assign them to someone else on MDE?
 
Bands are still valid but cannot be transferred to anyone as far as I'm aware

I was able to get one transferred a couple weeks ago by the internet help desk as I assigned it to the wrong person... but this was assigned and reassigned *before* it had been used for entry -- after it is used for park entry they would likely have told me sorry Charlie.

And for the OP - when you receive the purchased Magic Band, be sure to have a magnifying glass on hand as the numbers/letters on the inside of the band are very small and tough to read.

Good to know as I cancelled my Fall 2016 trip and would like to get the newer bands for our main bands and hopefully use my purchased bands during MNSSHP.

As stated my purchased MB were NOT used. Can you please tell me more about "internet help desk" do you have a link? TIA!
