Purchased Disney GC at Target ISSUE

That’s what he said he got. I meant should Walmart be keeping track of what cards they are activating and sending out to customers and so forth? Fishy to me! Someone is sitting in a warehouse and pocketing the activated cards and likely sending blanks/unactivated. My dad called Walmart and it was an overseas call center, the person he spoke to said that Walmart doesn’t activate them he needed to call Disney to activate the card and get the money onto it 😑 that’s not how it works…
You would think they would need to keep track.

Calling Disney does nothing either, I expected a tiny bit more than them saying to just call Walmart.

He called Disney also. They said it’s on Walmart Walmart said it’s on Disney. No recourse because he paid with a Walmart gift card. Such a headache! Hoping they are able to resolve it! Please update me if you remember! Best of luck✨

I will update. Since it happened to both of us recently I bet there are many others. I will try to escalate this at Walmart.
 
Update: Still waiting on a resolution with Target. They tried to deny it again. Stated that the card was redeemed. (NOPE!) I asked them if the third party card company had called Disney and he said no. I said what kind of investigation doesn't not call the source (Disney) who will verify that the card was never activated on their end and no charges were made with the card. SIGH

I got the rep on the phone to reopen it again. He told me to dispute the charge with Target Circle card (I have debit). He told me they are a separate arm. I am going to see if I get an email with a refund this AM. If not, I will be disputing the charge. I told him that it is ridiculous that Target is fighting with me over $100 on a bum GC. I said they will never get a dime from me again if I am not refunded. That I am not even asking for a true refund. I just want a GC that works! I have spend thousands at Target over the year. If $100 (that is MY MONEY) is not worth them fixing, then my relationship with the brand is over.

I get there are scam artists out there. But call Disney! And I have a stellar history with Target (which he confirmed over the phone) so what is going on here?

This happened to me last year, and I Have Not bought physical cards at stores since. I only buy egift cards because they are activated before sent to my email.

I did everything you said. I will save you some time.

1. THIS IS NOT DISNEY's fault. the card was NOT activated by Target. I spent a lot of time with Disney, I supervisor called me and explained everything and they told me they can see on their end that the gift card was NEVER activated. They gave me a Target number to call

2. There is a specific number at Target that ONLY deals with gift cards. It is not the normal customer service department, but gift card department. They use a third party company that deals with all gift cards. They can verify whether the card was activated or not. I called this number, explained the situation, the target gift card representative opened a case. They got back to me 2 days later, after they talked to the third party company, that CONFIRMED the gift card was NEVER activated. They refunded me. Problem was solved after 1 week, and hours on the phone.

AGAIN, DO NOT call Disney, you will be wasting your time. you need to call Target, ask to be sent to the gift card department. they will open a case with their third party company, and after confirming the card was never activated, they will fix the issue. It will take a few days, unfortunately.

Yes, I have a case # with Target from their GC division. They have an investigation. Like I said, their third party vendor says the card shows as activated and redeemed. (Which is not true as I couldn't even add the card to the Disney GC site). Disney says the card is not activated. I do want Target's third party to call Disney themselves and verify what they see. As you can see, I am in a bit of a different situation than you. Obviously there is some glitch or I have a bum card. I provided the Target GC people with pics of my receipt and the card so they can see the numbers all match up.

The card was not activated, that is the issue. disney can actually confirm whether it was activated or not, regardless of what target or the third party person says.

it seems you opened a new case, so hopefully they can check again and verify it was not activated. if they don't, you will have to do a charge back, unfortunately

I had issues with digital Disney Gift Card from Target one time. I don’t know if it is the same reason that the cards were not activated, but when I enter the card info into the Disney Gift Card website to combine them, it did not work. What I did is to enter the card info into the ShopDisney website (it happened before they changed the website name) as if I am using the gift card to check out, and it worked. Then I can just buy nothing and enter the card info to Disney Gift Card website to transfer the money to another card. I have to do this for all the gift cards in that one order.

Not sure if this still works, but it’s worth a shot if anyone has issues with the gift card again.

So my dad had purchase additional cards (discounted) before he got the first one not activated. 8 more to be exact! All 8 weren’t activated! He finally got ahold of someone at Walmart he was able to communicate with ( prior times he called they were routed overseas, heavy accents by CS and they didn’t understand what he was explaining and kept arguing with him) and they opened a case and acknowledged someone was not activating them at the warehouse. She said she was personally overseeing the activation and would email back within a few business days. This was yesterday afternoon, haven’t heard any updates from him yet but I will keep you posted!

Almost the exact same here. I have purchased in the past but this round I bought 8 cards across 4 orders. All were activated except 1. I was told they were sending to that dept on Sun or Mon and Id hear back in 48 hours. Nothing after 2 days so I tried again and escalated further up to a supervisor, he was also overseas, he said I will hear back in 48 hours. It's now been over 48 hours and nothing. He sent me a $10 coupon for the inconvenience. I plan to follow up again today.

Thanks for your update. I hope she follows through and gets it fixed for your dad.
 
This just happened to my dad! He’s getting the run around! He said the card came with no receipt or anything showing activation, card # or anything. They have to keep track of this stuff?
The ones shipped from WM have never come with any sort of paperwork that I've seen.

While I've never had an issue with those, two reports in a short period of time have me thinking I'll just chill on that purchasing route for now, yikes...

Honestly, I'm surprised you'll purchase any gc from them again after what they put you through. That was ridiculous!

I have boughten quite a few but dont think I will again. I still am 99% certain this wont get remedied.
