Got your crystal ball handy? :lmao:

I know that there's supposed to be a price change at AKL and an increase in the minimum buy-in at BLT coming in mid-January. And while we're very interested in becoming DVC members, I wasn't necessarily in a big hurry to do it this month (we weren't really planning to do a WDW trip in 2009).

So now, or a year from now? How sensitive is DVC to the overall crummy economy? Will prices continue to rise, or are there likely to be better incentives next year?

Any comments/thoughts appreciated...

Undoubtedly, DVC can be affected by the dead economy. However, at the same time, Disney does not have to do any fire sale as it can comfortably wait out an economic slump and accept a slow period of sales (which units its gets to rent while waiting). Prices never come down, they only go up, but what changes fairly often are incentives. I suspect there will be decent incentives for AKV next year even after the price increase but ones for BLT may not get better.

Yeah, by all accounts BLT is selling very well, and that's where we would be more inclined to buy. Right now I'm kind of thinking if we do BLT, better to do it now...esp. since I don't think we'll need the larger # of points (if the minimum's going up). But if we can't pull the trigger right now, I could always look at buying resale in a year...

BLT contracts will probably start showing up on the resale market eventually; imho even in less than a year especially if economy doesn't begin bounce back & soon.

Hmm, I wonder what the overall effect would be of a glut in the resale market?
