Purchase timeline/booking question

We’re planning to purchase the end of the summer (AKV, resale, cash). How long does the purchase process typically take? Assuming we find a contract and have our offer accepted end of August/early September, and assuming we pass ROFR, will we have our points in time to book a 2-bed at AKV for spring break (mid-March)? I know we’ll be within the 7-month window, so I’m assuming it’ll be too late. I know there’s a thread tracking 7-month abailability, but I can’t find it, so if someone could link that I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

60-120 days, with assumption it gets through ROFR. Longer times can come into play with international buyers/sellers.

Maybe? Availability inside 7 months early in 2020 has been 'broken,' which is to say availability is drying up faster than in prior years. The availability thread is based on prior year data and thus is seeming generous to how actual is fluffing out for early 2020 (January-February). The 7 month window for March 1, 2020 starts this Thursday, so that you'd not have points until late September or early October is not in your favor even for AKV Savannah at Kidani.

2BR is going to roughly follow studio availability.

I wouldn't be confident in you being able to book any 2 bedroom for an entire week with your timeline. There might be availability here and there, and you could piece something together, but a full week reservation will probably be pretty hard to do for spring break week.

60 to 90 days is a good conservative timeline for a DVC purchase from offer to being able to book. My transaction was super fast, 35 days from offer to close, and another 10 before I could book a room if I wanted to, but that is not normal and can't be counted on.

Keeping in mind that 7 months for 2/29/20 opened today, I can still 2BRs at most resorts, although not some of the cheap views at BLT/BWV, or lock-offs at a number of resorts.

But if we pop back even a week, to 2/22, a lot more is gone. We go back to 1/29, even more is gone, although we can still find a week in a couple 2BRs.

Magic Season 2020 starts February 16, and Easter premium (Premier) doesn't start until April 5, so that may help some.

Thank you! I expected it would probably be a gamble. Looks like we might have luck with a 1-bed if we do decide to go then, otherwise, we’ll save our first DVC trip for later.

Wow! That was quick!

Good to know. Thank you! We would be booking probably 4-5 nights, but a specific 4-5 day block, so not much flexibility.
