I don't know if there really has been a 'pattern'. The types of incentives have changed a lot, and the discounts don't seem to be following any pattern.
Let's see, in the early 90's it was free theme park tickets until 2000, then after that they had "Magical Beginnings" where you could give back your first year's points for a discount.
There have been incentives for add-on's where you got 'bonus' points that went into one of your other already existing contracts.
There have been developer points, double developer points, free 'vacations', and so on.
Get one incentive if you purchase a minimum of xx points, a different if you purchase yy points, and nothing if you purchase zz points.
If there's a pattern there, it'd be a very interesting equation. (Maybe even worthy of a "Numb3rs" episode?....
I do have some 'inside' information that told me
DVC likes to keep the 'competition' on their toes (so what else is new, that's good business sense)....making it difficult to guess what DVC will do next. I believe that to be true, and thus from that I would assume it would preculde DVC from ever wanting to develop a pattern of any type, especially something the 'competition' could figure out.
