Purchase Price Pattern?

I was thinking today, (don't say it), what is the typical price pattern when DVD markets a new resort? In other words, they offered a price and maybe a discount and/or bonus points when SSR went on the market. At some point the price went up and the deal changed. Same thing with AKV.

It there a typical pattern that they follow?

When is the best time to make a new purchase?

Thanks for your help.

I don't know if there really has been a 'pattern'. The types of incentives have changed a lot, and the discounts don't seem to be following any pattern.

Let's see, in the early 90's it was free theme park tickets until 2000, then after that they had "Magical Beginnings" where you could give back your first year's points for a discount.

There have been incentives for add-on's where you got 'bonus' points that went into one of your other already existing contracts.

There have been developer points, double developer points, free 'vacations', and so on.

Get one incentive if you purchase a minimum of xx points, a different if you purchase yy points, and nothing if you purchase zz points.

If there's a pattern there, it'd be a very interesting equation. (Maybe even worthy of a "Numb3rs" episode?....:teacher:

I do have some 'inside' information that told me DVC likes to keep the 'competition' on their toes (so what else is new, that's good business sense)....making it difficult to guess what DVC will do next. I believe that to be true, and thus from that I would assume it would preculde DVC from ever wanting to develop a pattern of any type, especially something the 'competition' could figure out.

I guess we'll see soon enough. The current promo ends Feb 15th and according to my guide, was extended from the holidays. It is supposedly one of the better ones since the holidays are typically slow sales days.

We'll see if in February it will be renewed, replaced or done away with. Everyone says the current promo is good but from doing a search on this post, some of last year's promos were great too (double points...).

(adding on to AKV to take advantage of the current bonus)
