Pumpkins, and candy, and Mickey, oh my! (TR complete!)

What great ideas - posters on the hotel door, hanging up decorations, a secret snack drawer....man oh man my family is going to use that clever idea for next time!!!!

Great trip report can't wait to see more.

Mike, I see that you've been to Port Orleans Riverside a few times. Isn't it a fantastic resort? What section were you in? We stayed in the alligator bayou section and loved it!

I'm reading your report from back to front. I got page 6 and 5.

even pregnancy tests. I guess for when you are leaving your hotel room for Disney and you think, "I should really take a pregnancy test just to make sure before I hop on the Matterhorn."

When Robert and I were on our honeymoon cruise, which started 6 days after our wedding, we were wandering around Juneau and found a bookstore. The bookstore, since it was in a touristy area, sold pg tests. We were *this close* to buying one, but it was an unknown brand for far more than the known brands cost at home. And hubby knew 100% sure that I was pg, so we didn't buy one (note: I was only *maybe* 9 days out from conception but the changes were profound already and got even more profound before the end of our cruise...the "girls" grew two cup sizes in 2 weeks for starters).

So while we might never have been tempted at HoJos, it's good for touristy places to carry them, b/c you really never know when you might want to find out. :goodvibes

OK, on to page 4.

Thanks! And thanks for reading along. The pics on the poster were all from the DISign board. I just wish we'd been in a better room location where someone (anyone) would have seen it. LOL
And the Halloween decorations in the room just made it feel a little more homey and festive.

Alligators?? :scared1:

Hi Molly! Glad you're here reading, even if it is backwards. ;)
Wow, who knew so many women were taking or thinking of taking pregnancy tests on vacation! :rotfl: I guess there is a rhyme to that reason after all, or something like that. lol

I'll try to get Day Three up tomorrow. Our first Disney day! :yay:

I wanted to tell you I love your Betty Boop before you change it.:goodvibes

I wanted to get Day Three up right now, but I've got to do some baking. I'm making Halloween cupcakes for Ruben's work, anyone wanna help? ;) And I've got to do some ChaCha-ing or I won't need to worry about Christmas and presents at all because I won't be able to afford them! LOL

So, I'll try to do it later tonight if we don't end up going out for my b-day that is. We'll see. Thanks for waiting! :flower3:

I know!! Wait, what am I thinking now?? :rolleyes1

I would say but I try to hide my talent....

Cute pictures with the girls in the "graveyard". I thought it was cut that the twins folded their arms like they were really in a coffin.

That smoke pictures make me very sad. Those fires are so sad for those families. The orange sky was really freaky.

:thumbsup2 Love the HoJo

I'm in.......I read some of your pre-trippie but was so far behind I could never catch up.
My bday is Halloween so I love all things Halloween.
Today's is yours if I am reading correctly so Happy Birthday :cake:. It's my dh's bday too. I made him a german chocolate cake.
Ready to see all the cool Halloween decorations & hear all about your great trip.

JaneJetson - we first stayed in the mansions and loved it and then our family of three (DH,DW,DD) had twins and we then stayed in the alligator bayou section and absolutely loved it. Riverside is our "home" at disneyworld. My wife and I are getting ready to celebrate our 20th anniversary and we hope to maybe go to DL or WDW without kids and stay at a deluxe resort (would be our first time)(would also be our first time truely away from the kids).

Now back to the thread....Can't wait for the next installment!!!!
Loved the shot of the kids in the lawn with the tomb stones. Had to show it to the wife as we were watching "The Office" last night.

So where are those pictures? :dance3:
They're coming! I have tons of them!! LOL

Hey, better late then never. I'm glad you're here.

Yes, today was my birthday. We aren't doing much. I'm still tired from the trip believe it or not. We were going to go out to eat, but honestly ordering food in just sounded so much more peaceful. LOL

Happy Birthday to your DH! And how cool that your b-day is on Halloween. :thumbsup2 Thanks for reading along.

Thanks. And I just had to say I hope you are able to pull off the trip sans kids! We all love our kids, but every now and then you just gotta have a little adult time. ;) Congrats on the 20 years. :goodvibes

OKay, I just had to share some pics of what I've been doing most of the day. Why on earth it took me so long, I do not know. Moving in slow motion today I suppose.

And also let me say that I hope you've had dinner already and if not, I sincerely apologize.....:rolleyes1

Some of you might remember the Kitty Litter cake recipe from my pre-trip report. I finally made it!! LOL I have no clue how it tastes. We haven't dug into it yet. But for a first attempt I think it turned out alright. :rotfl:

The kids totally got a kick out of it. Adam walked in and says to me, "I don't even want to know what that is." :rotfl2: Poor kids. They just never know what to expect from their old mom. If anyone wants the recipe it can be found here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Kitty-Litter-Cake/Detail.aspx

And I made some cupcakes for Ruben to take into work tomorrow. I tried to decorate each one of them different.

Ok, just thought I'd share what I'd been doing today. :) I'll start on Day Three either late tonight or tomorrow morning.

Today was our first day in the parks and I couldn't wait. The beds at HoJo are very comfy and I slept ok, but for some reason I kept waking up. Wide awake, positive it was time to get up for the day. First time that happened it was midnight. Second time it was 3 a.m.

Finally it was time to get up, get dressed and head to the Disneyland. The park opened at 9 a.m. and we got there around 8:15. I found a spot in line while Ruben and the two older kids went searching for a brick that another DISer had asked us to find and photograph for her. And they snapped some shots near the CA letters.

They opened the gates around 8:45 and after we grabbed a stroller (freebie with Disney Visa, we use it to hold our stuff instead of a locker) we took some pics with Goofy. I loved his skeleton costume!

Mickey too!

First stop on Main Street was the Blue Ribbon Bakery for some breakfast goodies. I'd heard so much about the chocolate croissants, the cinnamon rolls and the seasonal pumpkin muffins, that I had to try them. (Warning: Time to let the food porn begin! LOL)

Of the three, the pumpkin muffin was the best. They were all good, but that's the only one I'd order again. Very moist with the right amount of cream cheese frosting.

From there we headed straight for Pirates of the Caribbean my favorite ride in the park. I was so glad it wasn't closed after all.
Some shots to show how empty the park was. If only it was like that all the time!

We did POTC, Indiana Jones, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, and tried to do Splash but it was down at that moment.

Some pictures of the mansion with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. I love that ride. It's a close second to Pirates for me.

After the ride we got in line to see Jack and Sally. It was a pleasant surprise to see them as I'd been told they were only out on week-ends. I am so happy they've been added to the park now. I was surprised to see how quickly the CMs cut off the line for them, but then I saw how much time they devoted to each guest. At least while we were there, the interaction with them was great.

Noelle had a giant pen she used for autographs. (you can see it in Sally's hand in the first pic) Jack asked her what she feeds her pen to make it grow so big. LOL
She said "Nothing" and he acted very surprised and said her pen must be starving then.

I can't remember what all was said, I just remember how clever they were.

As we were walking through NOS we ran into Captain Jack and snapped a quick photo with him. He was being chased by kids and grown women alike. LOL He was rather on the small side. My 11 year old DD was almost as tall as him.

OK, I'm at my image limit and my eyes are closing so I'll stop here for now. Coming up in Day Three....more rides, fun, characters, and food porn!

Really enjoying your trip report and all the great pics. My gosh those homemade cupcakes look as good as anything at the Blue Ribbon Bakery! Tell me, was the cinnamon roll nice and "yeasty" like homemade ones are, or was it super sweet and too gooey like cinnabon's?
