Advise needed for a Brit please. I’m doing a Thanksgiving meal and want to finish with Pumpkin Pie, not a complicated recipe but something authentic. Any recommendations?
The only changes I ever make is to add more spice.
Agree! Back when I used to buy the old Mrs. Smith's frozen pumpkin pies, they had "regular" and "hearty" which was double the spice I think and it was fantastic. Of course, that's the one they stopped making. I was probably the only one buying it.I was raised on pumpkin pie that always had double the called for spices on the libby's can (with the exception of the sugar/salt)-any other pumpkin pie tastes 'flat' to me.
I always use Libby's pumpkin and I love their recipe for pumpkin pies. Never goes wrongHere's the common "Libby's Pumpkin Pie Recipe" many people use in the U.S. You don't need to use the brands specified, just keep to the measurements. Basically it's a custard so you should be somewhat precise.

I did this for decades, but then found that I like Costco's pumpkin pies just as much. I make sure to sprinkle my own cinnamon on top and make a quick, fresh whipped cream in my Kitchen Aid.I always use Libby's pumpkin and I love their recipe for pumpkin pies. Never goes wrong![]()
There's no Costco near us for a hundred miles, lol. We only have a family owned grocery store, Walmart, or Target. The older I get, the less I bake. Which sometimes makes me sad.
Problem is, I probably eat way too much of them, but I have no resistance to baked goods.lolIf I had to pick between that… I would go for the family owned place for sure! I seem to bake just as much as I used to, probably because I have a husband who asks for cakes, pies, etc all the timeProblem is, I probably eat way too much of them, but I have no resistance to baked goods.lol
