Pumping in the Parks

I'm looking for any advice on using my breast pump during this trip. We are leaving a 3 month old at home with grandma and I need to pump while we are gone. Has anyone pumped in the parks? Do you carry your pump around with you? Or do you rent a locker for it? Do you not bother and only pump at the hotel? Thanks

I’m not a mom, I just go with friends who are moms. They usually pump at the child’s bathrooms (I meant baby centers) because they have comfy chairs and quiet spaces to do so. Then if kiddo is with them pump stays in a bag in the stroller. No kiddo usually equals locker but one friend once kept it in a backpack with her cuz she said she needed to pump too often for running back and forth to a locker all day. Hopefully you’ll get more thorough advice from some actual Disney mommas :)

Following. I’ve breastfed in the parks but I haven’t pumped. However I might like to take my older child without my baby and I would have to pump. I’d prefer to save my milk, but wondering how to make that happen? Also, I know there are kitchen areas with sinks at both baby care centers, and I assume you can wash your pump parts in those sinks?

I think that the Baby Centers also have microwaves, in case you need that. And I bet that you could store your milk in a fridge in First Aid.

The baby centers are pretty incredible - they made me feel very comfortable in park with my littles. If you bring a small cooler w/ ice pack, it can keep the milk cool for quite a while. Not a full day at the park (especially not in heat), but if you make a pit stop midday/afternoon at your hotel, it can last long enough. You can also ask for cups of ice from CS places, if you need to extend the life of your ice pack. If you do plan on storing, just make sure you really label well to avoid any mix ups!

There are pumping spots set up in the baby care centers (basically a chair next to an outlet behind a curtain). People used to say you could store your milk, but in 2014 I was told that was no longer true and would just bring a soft-sided cooler bag with ice packs for it. I do feel like they stored my pump for me, though? Either in first aid or in the baby care center.

I kept my pump in a locker, and went to the baby center at the necessary times. I've been told you can store your milk in the first aid fridge, but I never needed to do that. A small soft-sided cooler with an ice pack did great for me, but I was getting very little milk at that point, so there wasn't a lot of warmth to melt my ice pack.

Don't forget to refresh your understanding of safe milk storage so you know how long it's good in certain conditions!

For storage, my sister used a soft sided cooler with ice packs in a locker. We froze water bottles in the hotel refrigerator to put outside the cooler to keep the locker temp even lower (and then we had cold water for back at the hotel, too -- just keep refreezing new bottles every night for the next day). CS places will give you free cups of ice if you need them for the locker or cooler. It wasn't super hot when she did this, and the locker area has a/c, so it worked fine.
