I am going to start potty training on Monday. Does anyone know the difference between Pull Ups and Easy Ups. I know Easy Ups are cheaper, but besides that is there much difference between the two? Of course I want to go with the cheaper ones but not if I am going to have problems.

Well, not what you asked, but I would use neither. Put your child in underwear. Yes, they will have accidents but they will know they are having them. Pull ups can be great when you really need to be sure a training child does not make a mess (think church) but for the most part, I would try to avoid them.

As for the difference, I think one is pampers and one is huggies. In truth I think i bought one pack for DS and ended up giving some away and maybe one for DGS.

It has been a long time since I used either, but I never liked the Easy Ups. I always loved Pampers diapers best, but the Easy Ups did not have velcro sides when I used them which made them harder to change when out somewhere. The Pull Ups have velcro that you can re-stick if needed and are easier to take off without totally undressing and you can put a new one on without undressing.
They may have changed them in the past couple of years though.

This^^ Pull ups/easy ups are a great insurance policy when going out during the potty training process, but they really do nothing in helping a child understand why/when to use a potty. The can slow down the process because there is no difference in feel for the kid between a pull up and a diaper.

I'm going through the potty training myself with my son who is 21/2. I think the most important part is to make sure that the kid is ready. I tried potty training my daughter for about 8 months, I was all stressed out. Then one day she just woke up and said, "I don't use diapers anymore." It will happen:)

The Pull Ups do have sides that can refasten. The Easy Ups don't. I buy whatever is cheapest or whatever I have a coupon for. I have also tried the Target brand and those worked pretty good too. The point is, you don't want the kid to be too comfortable....you want them to be motivated! But the characters make a big difference. I remind my son that Diego doesn't like to get wet, and that encourages him to use the potty. It works!

I agree with using none at all.

But we did use pull-ups at night and found that the pull-ups brand are larger. My DS is kind of big and the biggest size of easy ups were too tight on him, but the pull-ups fit fine.

Underwear!
My daughter is 2 1/2 and completely potty trained and dry at night.
I think the pull ups (which is what I did) delayed her a bit.

Pull ups can be taken on and off much easier. Size recloseable velcro.
Easy ups have to be ripped when removed (if there is a poop).
EWW!

Do it the old-fashioned way, and just go straight into underwear! My daughter was potty trained at 18 months and my son at 24 months. We started with Pull-ups with our first child, but the Pull-ups still gave her enough security to go in them when she wanted because she could not distinguish them from a regular diaper. So almost immediately we ditched them. We took her to Kohl's and let her pick out a bunch of big girl panties with her favorite characters on them. She was so excited! Of course, she had quite a few accidents at first, which soaked her or created such a mess, but she could not stand it. She quickly learned to use the potty. The same for my son. This approach did cause me to have to do some extra laundry at first, but it didn't last long at all. I figured my parents didn't have Pull-ups to use when we were little, and had to do it the old-fashioned way (with 4 kids) so why not?

This. Did it with 4 and is the only way ...IMHO. Good luck. And do not get stressed out about any accidents...that'll make a kid neurotic...like his mother! lol

Have to agree with the PP's who recommend underwear. We've tried everything with our DS, and have had most success with underwear and pull-ups at night. Good luck

For night time, I put a contractor's size trash bag down between the mattress and the fitted sheet to protect the mattress. I also made sure that he went pee immediately before climbing into bed. Since he was in bed by 8pm and I was usually in bed around 11pm, I would wake him up and have him go pee again. This prevented a lot of accidents. Now that he is 4 he knows that he needs to go pee before bed, and he wakes up on his own in the middle of the night to go.

Good luck! My girls both were not ready to use the potty until about 3 and almost a half. But we did use pull ups for trips and such.

I agree! DD was potty trained at 14 mos and night trained by 18 mos. I bought a pack of pull-ups and she wanted big girl panties! My girlfriend gave me some training pants her DD had and they worked like a charm.

DD's like 95% potty trained, we primarily used Pull-Ups "Learning Designs". Easy ups have a cooling "liner" that lets them know when they're wet-- but it also irritated the heck out of her girl parts. (It looked really painful, too)

If you are using disposable training pants (pull ups) and your child goes to daycare, please do NOT use the Easy Ups if at all possible! It is very time consuming when you have 18 children to take care of to have to totally remove the lower half of a child's outfit to change the pull up. That said, with my own kids I did not use pull ups except if we were going somewhere it would be extremely inconvenient to have a messy accident, and even then I almost always put the pull ups over regular cloth underpants so they could still feel if they were wet. They really do need to feel that they are wet to get the connection that they need to use the potty.

Only use pull-ups at night and nap time.

I just finished potty training my 2 year old. We went straight to big boy pants and never looked back. I also let him run around naked a lot the first week. It was messy for a few days, but by the end of the first week he had it just about down. A few accidents here and there for a few weeks, but now its all good.
Also, limit the fluid intake, so you know how much is going to be coming out and when to expect it.:goodvibes
Quick and relatively painless this way.
Good luck!

Good Luck with the potty training. My lo aka Mr Pootie is about ready to make the leap to the potty and I an dreading it

If anyone here DOES use Easy Ups and needs a coupon I have one for $3 I can mail you, just send me a PM...my DS will be 2 next month and we are no where ready for potty training yet...
