Has anyone gotten a wedding cake from Publix? Do they deliver to OKW? We are having a private 10th anniversary reception and I need a cake. Is this a good way to go. Any ideas please.

i had a birthday cake from there last year and it was on of the best i tasted - it was a chocolate cake. It was very rich but lovely and moist.

Publix makes lovely wedding cakes and very inexpensive. It's the best cake I've ever had.

They probably won't deliver but it doesn't hurt to ask. none of the publixes in my area deliver cakes.

I worked for Publix in the Atlanta Ga metro area as a deli manager for almost 5 years and tasted more than my fair share of cakes :rotfl:. The cakes are GOOD!

For the bakery managers in that area, delivery was optional. Usually they only delivered the big multi-tier elaborate (code for expensive) cakes. They also took a tool kit for emergency touch ups. Their delivery fee started at $50 and went up for time and distance.

Smaller cakes, even two tier, can be packaged safely so that a reasonably capable adult can manage without trouble.

Best advice is call the store directly. Publix bakery managers tend to be proud of what they can do wih the lowest staff level of any department in the store.

Very helpful. Thanks. Our cake would only be two tier. I just have to figure out which Publix is near WDW and how to find it:rotfl::rotfl:.

www.Publix.com

They have pictures of standard wedding cakes, lots of ordering info, and a store locator with wdw in the search options and directions. What it doesn't tell is prices and which stores are the larger ones. I am thinking the bigger store close to wdw is on sand lake road, but it has been a while since I was in Orlando. Bigger stores simply have more product turnover, thus more production experience which equals a better look.

Publix also does some pretty deli trays. if you need those.

The closest one to WDW is behind where Dixie Stampede used to be and in the area of the outlet mall right off I-4. As you exit WDW property at crossroads on 535, make a right, go under I-4 and take the next left.

Thanks for the directions. They were the clearest anyone has ever given.:)

I've picked a cake. I'm going with a two tier design called "First Dance." It has roses around the bottom edge of each tier and dots on the sides of each tier. I'll top it with the Mickey Minnie wedding topper. I'm also going to order tea sandwiches and a fruit tray. I've sent Publix two messages via email and have not heard back. I'll call them if necessary. I'll just see what happens over the next day or two. Any other ideas for a nice reception. We're celebrating ten years--just me, DH, DD 6 and DD 1, Ds 1.

Since you know the area, do you think this Publix could do a good job on a simple wedding cake? Is the bakery a big/good one? Thanks. THis is the one on Vineland, right?

Honestly, you may want to call the store directly if you have not gotten a reply. At our store outside emails went through the store manager first, and sometimes there was , um, :guilty:confusion. They can also verify location, and you can ask how many cakes they do a week. Hope you have an excellent renewal party!
