We will be traveling to Florida in a week for vacation and would like to stock up on some groceries while we're down there. We've always shopped at Goodings in the past but I've heard that Publix is much cheaper. Can anyone tell me where there is a Publix close to the WDW Dolphin? We will be driving from Orlando International Airport to the Dolphin and would like to stop on the way. Thanks.

There is a Publix right behind the Premium Outlet Mall on the other side of I-4. It is very, very nice, clean and prices are reasonable--lots better than Goodings. This is is not nearly as crowded as Goodings because not as many people know that it is there. Go like you are going to the outlet and pass around the curve by Dolly Parton's show, is it Dixie Stampede, or whater and then you will see a strip mall down the road a bit. You should not have any trouble finding it.

There are actually grocery stores all over the place.
I never shopped in the Goodings. I use to go to two different Publix's on 192.
Try this:

I use to go mainly this one:
Xentury City Center (Store #00570)
2925 International Dr
Kissimmee, FL 34746-4407
(407) 397-1171

It's at the corner of International Dr and 192. And there is a Walgreen's across the street.
It's just up the road from Osceola Parkway (and the Gaylord Palms).

I think the other by Premium Outlet Mall is more out of the way, unless you are going to those stores anyway. And the traffic going by the Dixie Stampede can be brutal at times.

which one is the closest to DW? I don't mind paying Goodings prices if they are the closest. On vacation, I prefer convenience. (I know, you think that's stupid, but humor me)
For some reason, I can never picture where these places are; we never leave DW except to go to Sea world, maybe that's why, lol.

Goodings has got to be the closest, I would think. It is in the Crossroads Plaza, which is just outside the gate near Downtown Disney. And you will be surprised at their prices! :-) But they are better than the hotel shoppette prices.

We posted at the same time, I didn't read your post before typing mine. Thanks for the directions. I think I have a pretty good idea where they are now. Well, as long as the bottled water is cheaper than 2.50 a bottle, I'll be OK at Goodings, lol. I would mostly just stop there to pick up a case of water for the room, and maybe one or two other things. Do they sell alcohol? (or is there a liquor store in that vicinity too?) :D

The first Publix mentioned is only about 5 min. more of a drive than Goodings....and its a very large, pleasant store. Goodings is relatively small. Its good for prepared foods and more gourmet sorts of things, but the selection of basics is limited and expensive (you don't want to buy diapers there....). I won't say I'd never go there....last Oct. we just needed some drinks and dessert to compliment the pizza I had ordered from Paesano's (next to Goodings) and it wasn't a bargain, but it was no worse than going to a convenience store....and since I was getting the pizza right next door and we were staying at the Best Western right across the street, and it had been a long day, and I was pregnant....well, you get the point.

For snacks, etc....its not horrible, but for a real grocery shop Publix is better (and we did go there after moving to our BWV 1br!). Basic directions...head towards Goodings, but instead of crossing 535, turn right. Get in the left lane and turn left on Vineland Rd (first left after crossing under I4). Keep going on this road until you see Publix on the left....its past the outlets and Dixie Stampede.

I believe Goodings does sell alcohol. They also has the oddest checkouts I've seen at a grocery store (unless they've changed in the last two years.)

I hope we can meet up again sometime! :)
I never use to know where my way around until I moved here. ;) Anyone could have taken me our snipe hunting Disney-style. ;) :jester:
Now I know how to get there. I am just not good on street names! :jester:

But I will warn -- esp during Christmas season the Premiem outlet area can have VERY UGLY stopped traffic. And once we were leaving premiem outlet when the Dixie Stampede was getting out. :earseek: Horrible. I always go out the back way anyway. DH goes out the front following I4. Bad news .:p

the Publix at Xentury City Center would be great if anyone was going to AS or WoS anyway. :)
Publix are pretty full service stores. I am sure they sell most anything anyone needs.

The Goodings at the Crossroads is outrageous. Some of the items they carry double what they are at any other Gooding's in the area, especially alcohol.

The Publix near Dixie Stampede sells beer and wine, there is also a liquor store in the same shopping center. This is where I always do my shopping.
