Public Service Announcement: Don't forget to Sync your Palm Pilot on a regular basis

Well, in the craziness of the holiday season, I forgot to charge my Palm Pilot, and the battery went down to nothing, and lost all of my data. Luckily, I sync it with my laptop at least once a month, so I only lost a couple of new address (which I still have on paper), and some appointments that have already happened. Nothing major.

Just remember to sync those Palm Pilots regularly.

The 3 rules of computing are:

1.) Back up your data
2.) Back up your data
3.) Back of your data

The 2 rules for PDAs are:

1.) Back up your data
2.) Keep your battery charged

If you don't know anything else, back up data frequently! I've known some business people who didn't back up data for the past 2 years and their hard drive goes out suddenly. They lose millions of dollars in sales. If the sales are so important, then back it up! Buy a CD burner or zip drive. You probably won't spend more than $100!

I live on the edge. I haven't gotten my synch to work yet, and I've had the thing for two years! I lost my info once. If I lose it again, I will be up the creek at work. But I can't get it to synch! ARGH!

Karen - I saw your post and it reminded me of my PSA about two months ago on the same subject. My m105 fell out of my pocket, the battery door popped off, and the batteries fell out. Even though I had them put back in within seconds, my Palm went stupid on me. I hadn't hot synced in a month and lost a LOT of information.

I'm hot syncing even as I type this reply.

It's always good to remind each other to hot sync I've been adding things I realized I lost all day.
