what are they like? Are they very clean or pretty gross? Are the toilets the kind that flush on their own so that you don't have to touch anything? What about handwashing, do they have hand dryers or paper towels? Thanks!

98% of the time I have found them to be very clean. If I am remembering correctly many of them are self-flushing and I think there are a lot of paper towels.

There are exceptions to all of the above of course. If you happen on a restroom that is shortly due to be cleaned it can look messy. All in all - they are very good.

Wow ... now this is overplanning -- :teeth:

I found them pretty clean ... mostly self flushing ... self water faucets but funny ... can't remember if they have towels or just the dryers. I think maybe both? I usually wash my hands and wring them dry as I run. I wasn't hot at all when we were there which is why I normally use towels ... wash my hot face!

In Epcot - Norway, the toilets were not self flushers and for a second I stuck my hands under a faucet and it didn't turn on. They were NOT automatic either!!

I love the bathrooms at Disney. After leaving from our last trip we stopped at a rest area on Interstate 75 in south Georgia. My friend and I walked into the bathroom and just looked at each other and at the same time said
" we're not at Disney any more".

this is not overplanning. for some people- myself included- public bathroom use requires a plan. i am reluctant to use public facilities in most cases (other that emergencies.) people are filthy and disgusting, and their public restrooms reflect that lack of hygeine.

disney, on the other hand, can almost always be counted on to provide a phobia-free experience. most even have a maze-type opening so one doesn't even have to touch the door (which is usually repulsively germ-ridden) to exit the facility.

Ha! I was just curious about it is all ;) I like the maze-type door thing...the less I have to touch there, the better :teeth: Hi :wave2: , my name is Dawna and I a am a germaphobe... I will have lots of bottles of antibacterial hand gel, too. I also have antibac wipes, antibac spray, antibac underwear :rotfl2: (just kiddin'!) Hey, seriously, that's a great idea...antibacterial underwear! :teeth:

But be very careful - with the heat and everyone drip drying their hands, the floors become wet and slippery. I know because when I was there the last week of June I slipped on the wet floor and went flying acrooss the room and caught myself on the sink after leaving the stall enroute to the sinks and pinched my sciatic nerve and tore my hamstring. The floor was wet and I didn't realize it. It happened in Epcot. I am still recovering (seeing a physical therapist twice a week), but I'll be recovered in time for my trip in 17 days!!!! :rotfl:

I have just the page for you on my website! An entire page with info about Disney bathrooms and photos of about 95% of them too! :smokin:

Wow! Thank you so much for posting that! Those restrooms look really good! Nice and clean. :thumbsup2 I haven't looked at all the pics yet, but the ones I saw in AK were lookin good.

I am pretty sure that all bathrooms have paper towels and hand dryers EXCEPT AK which I think might have only the hand dryers to help keep "waste" to a minimum. You will also find they do not serve drinks with lids or straws. I'm not sure about the paper towels though...Can anyone clarify?

Very clean - just like all at WDW.

And if everyone does their part, they will always stay that way..... :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. Thank you for the warning...I myself and prone to slips and falls, so I will definitely be careful. Now that you warned me, I will have this in my head every time I step into a restroom there. I have Epcot as our first day on my itinerary, too, so that wouldn't be fun to slip and fall down on our first day there!

:rotfl: after viewing the pictures in the link above I have notices that AK does in fact have paper towels in the bathrooms! Those pics are great and that is a great idea!

how on earth did you take all those pics of the insides of these bathrooms without people present? Frankly, I'm astonished that you were able to take these without people present in them. Did you ask people to step aside so you could take these, or did you just wait for moments when no one was in there (if there were any of those)?

Bathroom Pictures, That was different, thanks for the pictures, I didn't realize there were so many; being clean, I didn't expect anything else when its DISNEY...

Not only are the bathrooms clean, but they are COLD! It is always such a relief to walk into the bathrooms because the air is blasting and it is a nice break from the heat. I was just there all day today, needless to say I got sun poisoning....but...walking into the bathrooms is a nice cool break :)

Some good timing on my part and a whole lot of patience!! :thumbsup2

I never asked anyone to move or get out of the way, I don't think that would have been very Disney of me

The only bathroom that I swear is always dirty is the one between Adventureland and Frontierland. never fails, three trips, three visits to that bathroom (why I have to always go "right there" I have no idea) and it's always disgusting. all the other ones have been very clean though! :rotfl:

Make sure to use the bathroom at AK next to Kali River Rapids. My kids love the hand dryers there - they are so strong it looks like the skin is being moved around on your hands/arms. I think my ds would have stayed there and played with that for an hour if we let him - an attraction to itself. I think it's strong so people can dry their clothes after they get off of the ride.
