Public Diaper Changes, What Are the Guidelines?

Or perhaps, the airlines could establish a "no flying until potty trained" rule. That would solve the problem as well. Or, they could outfit a few plans with family style restrooms and charge a premium to fly on that plane (required if not potty trained).

I would be mad as heck if I found out an airline would refuse a child if they werent potty-trained. Thats discrimination. Get real, people have been flying for years...and there's always been infants on the planes. It gets me fired up when ive heard those few cases were children and their parents are asked to remove themselves from the plane because of rowdy children. Um hello....welcome to the world:laughing: ...kids are apart of that and with it comes poopy diapers and LOUD talking.

I "think" the poster was kidding.........i would hope if parents & children are asked to leave a plane the behavior would have been very disruptive.....as far as LOUD....yes kids can be loud but we as parents need to teach our kids when it's ok to be loud and when to use their indoor voices

I wouldn't be offended to see someone changing their BABY in a secluded place. Now, once we get to kids who can talk and are eating solid food and that kind of thing, I think a bathroom would be more appropriate, but I can definitely see how a parent, especially with many small children, might find it easier to just plop down on somewhere secluded and quickly change a diaper than leading a Potty Parade to the bathroom.

Now, that being said, I also have no issue with women breast feeding their babies in public either. When you're in a public place, and especially when you're in a place where maybe a bathroom isn't in close proximity, finding somewhere secluded and quickly cleaning a baby up isn't a big deal to me.

Just my two cents!

um hello - you do not have a right to fly. Airlines are a business. If one decided to cater to a crowd that was only potty trained, that is their business decision. It is not discrimination. And when I hear of an airline that removes parents and rowdy children who will not behave and can not control themselves - I cheer for the crew. Manners - a lost skill.

BIG BREATH!! I do believe the poster is just joking.

My kids are well past the diaper age. We've always had season passes to Busch Gardens, including when they were in diapers; but I NEVER and I repeat NEVER changed them in a public area. I was always able to locate a restroom and change them. I feel that there is no reason not to change your child in a restroom, you wouldn't go to the restroom in public so why expose your child to such. Sorry, it is my opinion and I'm sure I'll get flamed for it. Just 2 years ago, my family and I were at the Candle Light Processional and the family behind us decided to change their toddlers poopy diaper in their seats, well this child wiggled around enough that the contents of the diaper smeared all over the childs clothes and the ground. So, we endured the odor until someone finally told a CM who escorted them out of the show. It was disgusting and quite offensive to all who had to smell it.

I saw someone changing a diaper on the edge of the toppings bar at Pecos Bill's one time. :scared1:

I had to check my eyes for a sec :scared:

I did not eat off a toppings bar for a while after that. I think Disney has an attendant around the toppings bar now.

OK, at the risk of being flamed, I have changed my kids' diapers outside of the restrooms at Disney. I park our stroller off to the side somewhere, recline the seat, and change them there. I'm bending over the stroller while doing this, so it's pretty discrete. If you've ever tried to manoeuver a double stroller into a crowded bathroom, all the way to the back where the changing table is and where the stroller inevitably blocks the entrance to one of the stalls...you'd understand. Plus, I need to keep one of the little ones trapped in the stroller while I change the other one.

Just my 2 cents.

As long as it's off to the side....like on a bench, or or something. I wont change my daughter on a bus, or monorail. Same goes for ride lines.

But I preffer to not do it in a bathroom. 90% of public bathrooms are just gross. Even at disney.

I have been diaper free for 2 whole months.:cool1: :cool1: ...but I can remember the one time I ever had a changing issue was on a South West Airline flight!!!

I always changed my kids in a bathroom of a public place!

We're closing this thread it has played it self out. Those of us that are parent know there are times that dictate certain actions. Personally I would make every atttempt to change a child in a place that is not public. That said it is not always possible to do so. To argue over it on the internet without knowing the circumstances is pointless. Thanks Rich
