PTR: Our Dec Dis-Trip to see the decorations w/ the rest of the World(Updated 11/4)

Ok, here are the last three days of our trip… :sad2::sad1::sad:
Friday Dec. 18:
This is another day I have planned to start at DTD. We will again do breakfast in the room. This day we will go DTD and have an ADR at my wife’s favorite place, Planet Hollywood. She usually does all the planning and ADR’s and we have eaten at Planet Hollywood twice the last two years. I like to buy their picture package for my desk at work. :cool2: It will look nice right next to the other two years. We will probably go to a few resorts along the boardwalk on our way to Epcot. We will spend the rest of the day here riding my boys’ favorite rides. Dinner is another ADR at Le Cellier. My wife says it is a little late; it is planned for 9:15 PM. She says this will put us here after the park closes, but I think this will be a great opportunity for us to take our time.

Does anyone have any favorite resorts along the boardwalk that are must sees?? :santa: With this being our last day at Epcot, anything you think is a must do I haven’t mentioned??

Saturday Dec. 19: :cake::cake::cake:
December 19th is my birthday!!! :bday: I have planned for us to have breakfast in our room. Then it is off to the Magic Kingdom, where I will have this day to do anything I want. :genie: I will probably choose to spend most of the morning at Tomorrow Land doing Buzz. I love doing this ride with the boys. Each one likes to take turns riding with either me or my wife and try to beat us. I have never known where all the “Easter Eggs” are, but I still manage to beat them every time. One year, the ride stopped while we were in the big room near Zerg and we all maxed out our points. It was great!! I have planned for us to do two counter services this day. Lunch will be at Columbia Harbor House or Peco Bills. Dinner will be at Cosmic Rays. Since this will be the last day we spend at the parks, we will try and take it all in. The last day always brings tears to my eyes. I am an emotional guy; the stupidest things can bring tears to my eyes. My wife always laughs at me, except for this day every year. I know she hates to show emotion, but if she did, she would cry too. The only thing I can think we have to do, which will be a perfect way to end our trip, is Holiday Wishes. What trip would not be complete without doing Wishes to end your trip. :tink: It will give us an opportunity to see the castle lighting ceremony, which I think will only be the icing on the cake. :cake: (Just writing about our last day is sad.)

:confused3 Is there anything I am missing?? :confused3

Sunday Dec. 20:
This will be a very sad day for all of us. We will pack, clean the room, check out and check our luggage all before 8:00 AM. We always eat breakfast at Chef Mickey’s before we leave the park. It is a tradition that I will not change. The boys love the interaction with all the characters. ::MickeyMo::MinnieMopluto: They also love all the pictures!! Breakfast is a planned ADR for 8:30 AM. Since our flight is not until 4:00, this will give us a perfect opportunity to travel around the monorail and see all the Christmas decorations. If we have time, we would love to go to the Wilderness Lodge. Time always seem to go too fast on the Sunday before our flight. I hear the Grand Floridian is a must see!!

:listen:Anything else you think we should do?? Think I have planned 9 days packed full of fun?? I will eagerly wait read all your thoughts and ideas.

Well, that is my trip planned out for you. I have 6 weeks that will go by like 6 months. In the next 6 weeks, I will probably post a few pics form our last two trips and give some highlights. This will give me some practice because I plan on doing an Official Trip Report when we get back.

:offtopic:I bought a new camera for this trip. It is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1. It has a 20x Optical zoom and shoots in full HD Movie 1080p. I bought an 8 GB memory card to catch everything I can. This thing also has the ability to shoot 10 fps Bursts with a mechanical shutter. I hope to catch some great pics. My wife will take her laptop, so every evening I can download and backup everything. Her laptop has the ability to burn CDs which I think is awesome. The last two years, we have used a Kodak Easy-share camera. We had one that was a few years old and the pictures were getting a little blurry so we bought a new one just for our second trip; however, my wife dropped it right after Christmas last year. This gave me a perfect excuse to buy a new camera with quite a few nice options.

After reviewing and reading the first 35 pages over on the Official CSR page (thanks KatMark), I am also thinking about which buildings to put as preference. In my next rambling, I will give my thought and ideas to which buildings we are leaning towards. After I make that post, I will be eager for KatMark to give me their thoughts and ideas.

:thanks: Again, thanks for following along with me and giving me some great ideas. Until next time….:yo-yo::chat::bored:

I'm not getting much help... or ideas.......... :confused3
I am patiently waiting......... :rolleyes1

I can't post much aboaut special things to do at Disney during the holiday season as we've never been there at that time of year...we keep hoping one year to be able to do so.

Love most of your dining selections and think you have a really good variety.

I love all the photos posted here on the Dis from the Holiday season. Hope it is more beautiful than my dreams.
Thank you for the compliment on the dining. I am hoping to keep the week from feeling like that "every other trip" feeling.

Great PTR, Dan. I've got through a bit but need to take the kids to soccer so I'll get back to it sometime soon.

Our first trip to Disney as a family was September 2007. We stayed at All-Star Sports and went during free dining.

Now for this trip, I had told my DW that we would not go to Disney this year unless we got free dining in December. I told her I wanted to go during the Christmas season to see all the decorations. I was not expecting anything like this, so I figured we would take a trip someplace closer this year. Then the other day, my DW calls and said she got a pin for free dining in December. She sounded so happy, and I tried to sound disappointed. I am a closet Disney maniac. :rolleyes1 Also, just to make another thing clear, we will be celebrating my birthday while we are in Disney.

We did our first family trip in May 2007. Then again in Dec 2008. I had a conference at the Swan&Dolphin in January but stayed at the Beach Club by myself. And now we are just back from our 3rd family trip in Oct. So I'm definately a Disney Maniac too. Those that know me, I'm sure, just shake there heads when I talk about Disney.

The Christmas decorations are so beautiful. Seeing the castle all lit up sends chills down my spine!!

I am going to love 2 queen size beds. Also, I feel the Dig Site will be all the swimming the kids will need to do in December. From the sound of a few TR from last December the weather may not be the greatest.

You'll really love the queen beds. Very comfortable. We were there from Dec. 4 - 14 last year and it was cooler than I expected. But my kids - and us being Canadian - figured we didn't care what the temperature was we were going to swim in Florida in December.

Hello all!!!

4 weeks to go... :banana::banana::banana: :yay::yay::yay: :dance3: :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

or 28 days to go... :banana::banana::banana: :yay::yay::yay: :dance3: :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Can't wait.... :rolleyes1

I will post a new update soon...

Maybe :worship:KatMark can answer this question for me...

:confused3I was thinking about only packing deodorant in my luggage.:confused3 It looks like body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, & toothpaste are all provded at CSR. I am ok to assume this?? or are they only provided in certain buildings?? I noticed DVD players are only in certain buildings as well.

If I don't have to :scared1:worry:eek: about packing these things, it will make my life that much easier. I am sure my wife will pack her things, but me and the boys would make due with what would be provided.

Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Dan P

26 days and counting.... :woohoo: :yay:  :cool1:

Hey, Dan. Sorry I didn't see this sooner...I've not been very good about reading all of my "subscribed threads"--a lot going on in my personal life.

The CSR provides Shampoo, Conditioner and Lotion in all rooms. Club rooms that are not used by convention guests and that a regular resort guest is put in (but no access to the Club Level food, etc.) are sometimes given the extras--body wash, gel, sun gel, toothbrush, etc. We were given these extra items as well as robes and turndown service on our last trip but I am sure it is because we are returning guests every year and were upgraded for our 26th anniversary.

These next three weeks are always the longest wait... :surfweb:popcorn::
I think we have everything we need for the trip... :confused3atleast I hope!!!

Have not received anymore flight time changes, but I am sure we will get atleast one more............ :rolleyes1

I think the kids are ready, but they only worry about themselves... :thumbsup2

Until next time.....................

I think we might buy two more suitcases... Since we got the $49 flights...:lmao: we will be charged for each piece of baggage. I think it might be easier (and cheaper) if we replace the boys' small suitcases with two larger suitcases. We usually get two pieces of luggage per person and take six peices. My wife and I have our two larger suitcases and two smaller ones and the boys have their small one's each. They are 10 & 9 and I feel they each can pull a larger suitcase since they will only need to take them from the hotel shuttle in Indy to bag check at the gates. With ME, they take care of the rest :)

Since we have always packed poptarts and goldfish for the boys, beef jerky and assorted nuts for me, and kool-aide and lemonade packets for the wife and kids in our extra bags, we will need to make due with four total pieces.

We are also waiting for a 5 day window to decide what to pack. If anyone has been in December, they know weather can deviate greatly.:scared:
I am hoping for mid 70's!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

Hi Dan, your trip is almost here. I forgot to come back here but saw your posts on the CSR thread and that reminded me. If this is your first time going down during the Christmas season, you will love it. The decorations and trees are all over and everything is beautiful.

Some must do's:
- the castle lighting ceremony at MK. I think they do this at 6 or 6:30 PM. It is a really neat show at the castle and then they light it up. Wow!
- The Osbourne family lights at DHS. This was amazing. I've never seen so many lights ever. It is located on the Streets of America. We wondered around there for at least an hour or more looking at the lights. Watch for some Hidden Mickey's in the lights.
- Candlelight Processional at the American Gardens Theatre in Epcot. If you don't have a meal package for this it might be too late but you might get a seat if you get there real early and wait in the standby line. You can also just stand outside the theater and listen too. We did this on our last night there last year. This was a highlight and would do it again. A mass choir sings traditional Christmas carols and a celebrity narrator reads the Christmas story.
- AK doesn't have much other than the Jingle Jungle Parade at 3:45.
- tour some of the hotels. They are beautifully decorated. We didn't get to them all but the GF and their ginger bread house was amazing.

The weather can be varied. We encountered rain one day, cool temps on a few days, and some nice days too. But nothing real hot. It was a bit too cool to swim but the kids were determined to swim in an outdoor pool in December so they did - at least the pool was pretty empty! So dress accordingly.

I hope you have a great trip. I look forward to your trip report!

Kelly
