PTR for the planning obsessed....Updated 11/5 We're home now.

I'd go with the 4:10 flight.

Yes, that 4:00 flight sounds good! :thumbsup2

Hopefully, DH will feel the same way!

I agree too w/ the 4:10 flight too...gives you more time to breathe while checking out and a little last Disney fix too:goodvibes

Hope the conversation and decision goes well!

J-

I agree, I would take the later flight so you can soak up as much Disney as you can before you leave. It would drive me insane to have to wait until after 8pm tonight to talk to him about it:rotfl:.

I'm leaning towards agreeing with you all. I've never gotten to let a late flight before. I really should have DH make the final decision since he's the one that get sick.
I need to go check on the rental car...if leaving later will change the price.

Alright, MP! I'm all caught up on your chapters, but not the talk in between so forgive me if I'm repeating something.

I think the later flight would be nicer given the age of your son and the level of sanity you would like to maintain!:thumbsup2 But, your DH's opinoin is important with the whole motion sickness, so I'm interested to hear what he has to say.

I just wanted to throw it out there that we've taken our son every year since he was about 8 months old, and one of those trips he was the age your son will be when you go, about one and half. If you have any questions you want to ask me, please feel free. If any of my experiences can help you, I'd love to.:goodvibes

I got up to chapter 22 on your PTR this morning. Links are a wonderful thing....finally got the ones for this PTR done today.

Any advice on traveling with a little boy is welcome! I seem to be worried about feeding him, how well he will sleep in a bed (with rails, as I don't want him sleeping in a pack n play for 9 nights), how we will manage him in lines. We are taking breaks every afternoon and one of the reasons for staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort is so he can run around and play in the sand.

So I checked National Rental Car....it will cost me $29 to keep it until 2pm on departure day.....UGH....but I think I found a $30 off code. I don't know if it works yet. So FDM says that if the code works I save a dollar. Forget about the fact that I could save $30. But I have learned from the wise LapuLapuaettes that I will not bring up to DH anything about the cost/savings of the rental car while we discuss what flight to take.

Yes, and I so appreciated your links, let me tell you!

Bless you for reading my pre-trip report. I truly mean that. It seems to have taken on a life of its own, I can't believe I'm on Chapter 50 and page 103!:scared1:

Okay, some things I can just put out there right now, some that I did, and some that I've read.

Pack lots of snacks, and maybe even some new ones.

Pack some new toys he's never seen before, and pull them out at really, really cranky moments. A diversionary tactic I read on another thread, could be good for the plane, or good for waiting in lines. Perhaps you may even want to wrap them for on the plane since it could take a bit of time for him to unwrap them.

We use those Spongebob straw cups for him to drink out of. Not sure if you use these, but we bring four. One for juice and milk per day. We still water down our juice (even though DS is three, I feel better about less sugar) and I like to have the control of being able to do that in a non-spill straw cup. The idea is to bring two with you for the day, and rinse/wash them as you go, then give them a thorough soaking/washing that night and your other two are in the room nice and clean, ready to go.

Always bring a favored toy and blankie from home. One of the most comforting things to a little one is having their own blankets from home to sleep with. I think this will definitely help with the whole bed situation.

And truthfully, I'm a little worried about my little nut with bedrails and he's three!:lmao: It's because he's in a toddler bed, and although he hasn't fallen out in a very, very long time, I still worry about him being higher up. Honestly, though, I think you'll be fine with that.

I'm going to go look through my scrapbook from that year and see what else I can come up with.:goodvibes

Our return flight has been booked. The 11:30am flight that lands in Manchester at 2:20pm. Total cost for this leg $433.50. For a grand total of $750. I don't dare hold out for a cheaper fare.
Well at least we can vote in person and not by absentee ballot. :thumbsup2

Yikes!!!

Okay, I like your positive spin by including voting -- I think this election will need every American exercising his/her right to vote!

And you will be home for my b-day on November 5th! ;)

Grrrrr! :headache:

Does HE propose an alternative -- say, an extra night at WDW so he can take an early morning flight?

Nah....he says that even if we weren't going to leave until 4pm he wouldn't eat. I guess the trip is long enough 9 nigths/9 days ....that last day doesn't count if you leave before noon.

Well if I knew it was your birthday on the 5th we would have drove up! Can you believe that He wanted to drive to Orlando with a 18 month old???? :confused3 I have to remind him that He isn't in his 20's anymore.

:rotfl2: He's crazy! That would have been the drive from...well, you know! ;)

I am constantly having to remind Charles of that. :rotfl:

You have learned well, young grasshopper! :rotfl:

Congrats on booking your return flight!!

YAY on booking the return flight!! I always feel so much better when I can check that off my list!

I can see us driving down years from now....but making it a 2 week vacation and stopping over night along the way.

Congrats on booking your flights.
Thank you!

YAY on booking the return flight!! I always feel so much better when I can check that off my list!
Yes it does....now I need to book the resort. If history repeats itself deals will come out in August.

Well, at least the flights are booked. Trip is one step closer!

Hey, that's my brother's birthday! And also the birthday of my childhood best friend. Nov. 5 must be a popular day for giving birth. :lmao:

Congrats on the flight!! We have always gone with the earlier flight and it's worked out well for us. A travel day is enough for the kids to deal with - it would be too much on top of trying to visit a park too. Of course when I went with my mother I opted for the late flight - but with the kids - early is good! :thumbsup2

It's probably just as well we are coming home earlier. I never did stop and think about what if the flight got delayed...
