PTR-Cheating on Mickey w/Harry!...OMG! Only a month to go!

Causing all kinds of trouble.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hi Alison! I'm still around...just have been very busy with work (running that show I had told you about a while back)...but I am catching up here now that I'm off this week. Rehearsals will be in full swing starting next Tuesday, for a month until opening night on Feb. 3rd. Bracing myself, but having a lot of fun at the same time! It's a lot of hard work running a show, but I am having a blast doing it! :goodvibes

So anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello, hoping you had a very Merry Christmas, and all the best to you and Fran in the new year!

Good luck on your show! I'm not sure you were online when I listed the link to my other PTR, had I not postponed this trip I would have already completed the TR and would just have the one PTR going, but since I have two different WDW trips, I also have two different PTRs going on. I posted pictures from my Vegas trip on that PTR.

Thanks! I will be right over to your PTR! Can't wait to see your Vegas pics! You're better than me...I still don't even have my Foxwoods pics downloaded onto my computer! :rotfl2:

Right now, I have some potato latkes frying for the last night of Chanukah...the boys are excited to eat them for the 3rd time this week! We had them once at my parents', once at my sister's, and tonight we're having them again. We all make them the same...the way my grandfather made them! He would be proud!

OK, so some of you know about our dilemma. Back in October we got Mac. He's a total cutie, but he's also a lot younger than all the old lady cats that live in our house. As a result, no one would give him the time of day. He tried to play with them but they just shined him on. The only one who gave him any reaction was Sunny and she comes on so fierce that everone pays attention.

So pretty soon on we realized he needed a friend. About a month ago I found a cat through a rescue organization. Filthy, awful, rotten people on a power trip. They are not interested in the well being of the critters that they hope to "help". Perhaps other organizations are different, but I doubt it. My hairdresser was denied a poodle rescue because "he had a job". they came over Tuesday night and were judgemental, haughty, and overall beatchy. They denied us adoption and made Fran very upset.

I found out that the SPCALA-Long Beach opened at 11AM the next day so I went down there right away. They informed me that all members of the household must be present, so after perusing the members of the colony, I went home to collect Fran. I forgot she had a hair appointment, so that delayed us a while, also that she convinced me we should get three instead of two, so we had to go home and get another carrier.

It took us a while there to pick out the kids to adopt. I really wanted Pepper, she stole my heart immediately that morning. I kinda liked Bennie (Milo) and when we saw Pepper going "push push" on Basil's chest, we had to get the two of them. Well Pepper had not been spayed yet, so she couldn’t come home with us. We can pick her up from the vet tomorrow.

So these are the kids that we adopted yesterday. Pepper (at the shelter, since we couldn’t take her home).

Basil hid for about 4 hours, but after he finally came out he was such an incredible lovey dove, he has been my downfall ever since. He wants to be held 24-7, slept on my head and I think will make my life a PITA from now on

Alison! They are GORGEOUS!

I'm so glad you found them and they found you. How is Mac coping with the company? Are they playing together?

Well not quite playing yet. He keeps following them around and swatting at their back feet, but they don't quite like it, much like Sunny didn't like it. Basil is hissing back at him. Milo couldn't care less, he is aloof. However I imagine within a few days, the three of them (and maybe Pepper) will all be running amuck chasing each other. They are getting close. Sunny on the other hand has not adfusted to anyone new.

Basil is such a cuddler, I'm not sure how I will ever work on the computer again! We're over to stay with Olga tonight so we'll see how these kids do tonight!

My friend had the same kind of thing happen to her with a dog she wanted to rescue. I don't know what they expect from people, wouldn't they rather have the animals in a good home? :sad2:

Anyway, how wonderful you were able to find a good place and some more wonderful kitties! Poor Basil sounds like he has years of love he needs to make up!

They are beautiful Alison! Thanks for sharing.

Aren't they sweeties?

0-1 loss, 3-0 for a big win.

Score!

What's funny is Basil is just a little over six months old! :rotfl2:

Last week we had the good fortune to attend a winemaker dinner with the Lamborn Family Winery. We were at our usual favorite restaurant, and they did not disappoint. As usual we started off with butler passed Hors d’oeuvres. As we entered the restaurant we were handed glasses of champagne (which were not from the winery).

The first tray to come our way was the Pomegranate Infused Lamb Patty Cake. I love Lamb and this was just so tasty! I ended up having two even though I said I would only eat one each of the tray passed offerings. See below.

Next to try was the Chinook Salmon and Cream Cheese Popover. Now I’m not a big fan of Salmon, it just tastes too strong for me. However, I WANT to like it, so I keep trying. I took a small bite of Fran’s, and :sad2: nope, still didn’t like it. She thought it was great and had two of them.

Lastly from the butler passed Hors d’oeuvres we enjoyed the Oregon Mushroom Dauphine, Asparagus Mousseline. These were not at all what I expected, but they were very tasty. I almost thought they were made of mashed potatoes they were so fluffy,

We sat around enjoying our champagne. I always forget how really beautifully decorated the club is and find that I sometimes take it for granted.

For some reason there were no place cards on the tables, but seats were assigned and the servers were showing everyone to their tables. No need for us, we are always seated at the first table inside the door so that Fran doesn’t have to walk very far.

The menus for winemaker dinners are always imaginative and definitely press the limits on interesting flavors and ingredients.

DSCN3956.jpg

One of the interesting things about this menu was that we only tasted two different wines from the Winery. The same wine was served for the 2nd course as was for the dessert, but they were different vintages. Same for the 3rd and 4th courses. Fran was able to save back some of each of the first pours of the wines for me to try them side by side. It was rather interesting because I defintely had preferences, and it wasn't always for the older vintage.

The first course was a Diver Sea Scallop, Granny Smith Apple Almond Soup, Kalamata Olive Froth. Fran was nice, as soon as she saw the menu (I was busy yakking with the ladies at the table next to us) she asked one of the servers if I could have mine sans froth (I hate olives). The garnish on this was so tasty. I ate the scallop, but left some of the soup because I knew by the time we got to #4 I was going to be stuffed.

Course #2 was Organic Long Island Duck Breast, Zinfandel Poached Quail Egg, Celery Root Pudding. The quail egg was a little overdone, the yolk did not really drizzle all over everything like it should have, but it was still very good, especially when you got a bite with egg, duck, sauce and blackberry.

For me the next course was a total bust. “Where’s the Beef?” Now I’m not anti vegetarian, but I don’t care for cauliflower, or beets and I couldn’t find any chanterelles in my bowl, but the little cheese puff was good! Chanterelle Mushroom & Cauliflower Bourguignon, Maui Onion Gremolata, Red Beet Sabayon

DSCN3961.jpg

Even without eating much of the third course, I was unfortunately filling up. And this course of all courses. Braised American Kobe Beef Cheek, Bacon Lardon Duchess Potato, Cardamom Carrot Confit. The beef was so tender you didn’t need a knife. You could REALLY taste the bacon in the potatoes too! It was really good, I was just too full!

DSCN3964.jpg

And finally dessert. How is it that no matter how full you are, you can always stuff in more chocolate? This was heavenly (as are most of the desserts at the special dinners). Valrhona Dark Chocolate Pate, Crème Chaud-Froid, Raspberry Coffee Anglaise.

After dinner we heard fireworks going off. The park was closed, so they must have been testing “Remember Dreams Come True” Because of the trees above Café Orleans, the view is obstructed, but we could still see a lot of the higher up fireworks. It was a nice closer for the evening.

On our way out we ran into the chefs who had just finished a busy night (Marcel plans the menus, but they are the ones who execute the plating and preparing of 50-100 exquisite meals) and they posed for a picture.

DSCN3966.jpg

And here we are with our escort leaving the park, another wonderful evening!

We’ll be back for Valentines Day!

The courses to me look like they really got better and better as they went.

What a lovely evening. I'm completely opposite when it comes to olives, the more the merrier.

Are these special dinners available to the public? I'm sure with such limited seating reservations are hard to come by. I'm just being curious.

I'm so drooling over the dessert, did you sneak some home for me?

Well except for the all veggie course that's usually how these dinners go.

PM should have explained most of it, but wine maker dinners are easy to get into. We decided to attend this about a week after the call in date. Other events which involve attraction openings or other exclusive events can sell out within 20 minutes of the call in time.

Everything was beautiful and looked delish... I am with you on the meatless dishes, I really love my Animal Protein...

So needless to say I am jealous again....:goodvibes
