PTR-Cheating on Mickey w/Harry!...OMG! Only a month to go!

My vote Raglan Road.... I have wanted to try it, and heard great things also...

I vote for Raglan Road :teeth: You had to know it would be :lmao:

I just made an 8PM Raglan Road ADR. We can always cancel it. We have the Grand Mariner tasting at 2:30-4PM and they feed us dessert. From what I hear you get five shots of Grand Mariner, so we'll be heading back to the room for a nap. 8PM should give us time for a nap and to catch the bus to DTD.

Sounds like a great plan... I want to know all about it too...

I've also read/heard great things about Raglan Road :thumbsup2

Hopefully they'll let you know soon about the Signature Dinner.

I thought I'd be safe catching up on this thread after dinner only to find I'd rather had anything from your pictures over what we had. Everything looked so good.

Oh well, I guess I'll go find the Black Bottom Cupcake that's still around here to get my chocolate fix.

Keep us posted on Raglan Road, I've wanted to try it, but haven't convinced the rest of my family that's been with us.

So this has nothing to do with my PTR, but I just wanted to post it. Some of you are aware of my German Dress Issue. After much searching and deliberation sometime in July I ordered a Dirndl (German Dress) from an eBay seller in Turkey. I ordered the largest size that they made and it arrived in early August. I couldn't even get the dress zipped up! :sad2:

So I've been madly dieting and last Tuesday night I tried on the dress again. With Fran's help, I was able to close the top and zip it up, but it was excruciatingly painful, I would never last 4-5 hours in it, much less eat and drink beer or ride the Matterhorn. :sad1:

However, one of my friends had a suggestion that I could put together a costume, with just a vest, corset or some other like piece of clothing. So after finding that my Ren Faire outfit from 15 years ago fit me worse than the dress, and having no other clothes around the house. While we were out buying cat food last night, I asked if we could hit a few of the fat ladies stores, we didn't find anything there, but then I thought we saw one of those seasonal Halloween stores and maybe I could find a something that would work! Well I found a Valkyrie costume on Clearance. The only thing I used is the bodice, but that's fine!

So with the Oktoberfest tomorrow night, I finally have an outfit that will be sort of Festive! Imagine me in pigtails!

YES! I love it! :cool1::yay:

Good work on putting this together! I think you'll look like an absolute DOLL with pigtails!

Great costume! Glad you found something that worked. Can't wait for pictures on the Matterhorn. :)

Can you catch me up on Oktoberfest? Where is this event? Downtown Disney?

So Friday night we went out to the Napa Rose with my parents. This is our 3rd wedding anniversary and ever since the rehearsal dinner was such a hit out at Disney, we decided to celebrate our Anniversaries together. Theirs is the 18th and ours is the 20th. So we booked the Chef’s Counter again this year. Last year Chef Sutton wasn’t working the night we came in, so we made sure not to come in on a Sunday or Monday. I always have to take a shot of the bread basket. They do change the breads up some, but it’s usually the same make up. A flat bread (my favorite) and a few other kinds of Artisan breads.

DSCN2615.jpg

This was our amuse bouche. It was a Bavarian Cream Cone. Inside the cone was Bavarian Cream, bacon, Apricot, and thyme. It was a yummy first bite!

DSCN2616.jpg

For our first course, everyone ordered something different and then we switched plates within the couples (ie me & Fran, Mom & Dad.)

First they poured our wine. It was a Far Niente Chardonnay. I definitely love Far Niente, but just never choose to spend for it. The Chardonnays run at least $30 in the grocery store if not $40, but they are GREAT!

DSCN2618.jpg

I got the starter from the Vintner’s Menu it was a Wahoo crusted in sesame seeds with an almost tzadziki like dressing and atop pomegranate and some sort of beans. I want to say Pinto, but I’m sure they are something more fancy. It tasted a little salty to me, but I eat a reduced sodium diet. It was perfectly cooked and the pomegranate seeds were a great addition with the way they “popped” in your mouth!

DSCN2620.jpg

Fran got the “Tomatoes in all their Glory”. Maybe she did get this the last time we were there. That little ball you see on top, that is a yellow tomato sorbet. The yellow on the plate is a yellow tomato gazpacho, and then in the middle are all kinds of Heirloom tomatoes, basil and a subtle yet very flavorful dressing. I had a few bites of this

DSCN2621.jpg

My parents got the Hamachi Carpaccio. They enjoyed it…by this time Chef Sutton had come out to greet us and he explained that he did a “Mediterranean Preparation” on a Japanese Fish to twist it up. They seemed to like it, but were really interested by the Caper Berries that were used on the dish because they had them at another restaurant a couple weeks ago and had never heard of Caper Berries. Evidently they are the Berries from the plant where Capers come from, they are part of the flower.

DSCN2622.jpg

They also got the scallops in the Lobster Sauce. You can never go wrong with this one. My first taste of this recipe was in my own kitchen. I didn’t get the slick potato chip thingys that give the dish height because I didn’t know how to make them. In my recipe book from when I did the Napa Rose Cooking School, I’m also not sure that it said to use mashed potatoes as a paste to make the chips stand up. :lmao: I much prefer having it at Napa Rose!

DSCN2623.jpg

Next the server poured me a glass of a German Reisling. Since my next course was going to be a little spicy the sweetness would offset that nicely.

DSCN2624.jpg

I had the Smiling Tiger Salad. Now I know I got this one last time, but it is just so good, I couldn’t resist. The lobster medallions are warm and crispy which contrasts to the greens and dressing and the hot spicy beef underneath is sort of like buried treasure!

DSCN2630.jpg

Fran ordered the Pheasant, Kale and Cannelini Bean soup. It also had Chanterelle Mushrooms. The broth on this was so tasty! I only ate a little of this because I was already starting to fill up.

DSCN2631.jpg

My parents both ordered the signature Mushroom Cappucino. Always a winner!

DSCN2629.jpg

Here’s a few shots of the kitchen for you.

DSCN2628.jpg

DSCN2626.jpg

Then they brought the wine to go with our entrée

DSCN2632.jpg

My parents ordered the Filet which was with a Cabernet Reduction and over a ragout of tomatoes

DSCN2633.jpg

Perfectly cooked

DSCN2636.jpg

We split the Lamb, it was supposed to come with an eggplant lasagna, but I’m allergic so they substituted some vegetables. This had a Sangiovese reduction.

DSCN2635.jpg

For dessert they brought us a glass of this wine, the server never took the bottle away, so we just polished the whole thing off! :rotfl2: It was REALLY good!

DSCN2638.jpg

I ordered the Chocolate Raspberry Pie for Dessert as did my Dad. It was some special kind of Raspberry that now eludes me.

DSCN2639.jpg

So here we are happy and full!

DSCN2640.jpg

But then, they send you home with these little morsels.

DSCN2643.jpg

I just enjoyed mine yesterday, while Fran’s never made it out of the restaurant! :rolleyes1

Stay tuned! Lot’s more food porn to come!

YES! I love it! :cool1::yay:

You will rock the festival!

Great costume! Glad you found something that worked. Can't wait for pictures on the Matterhorn. :)

Thank you for all the compliments everyone! We're all packed up and ready to go! and it's only 2:15!!!!!! The room will be ready at 4PM (hopefully) maybe earlier, but I won't count on it. We should get there in time for me to get ready and saunter leisurely into the park! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Pictures will come in the next couple days!

Awesome Anninversary dinner, the Chocolate Raspberry pie looks right up my alley.

Hmm, I wonder if they'd kick us out of Napa Rose since we're not wine drinkers? I'm all for the food!!!

Have fun.....and I know telling you to be good will be a waste of time. So, be good at it! :thumbsup2

I LOVE the way you guys dine! With wine and all! :cloud9:

I'm going to have to look for that Chardonnay. I want to take one bottle of Chardonnay and one or two bottles of Pinot Noir. I love me a good Chardonnay and have been recently loving Wild Horse Chardonnay. So crisp and refreshing! Wonder if you can only get Far Niente from the winery itself or from a wine website, or if they sell it at World Market or Bevmo's.

Can't wait to hear about all the fun you had!!! :woohoo:

Thanks for posting such heavenly pictures! Nom nom nom nom nom.

See you tomorrow. YAY! :banana::banana::banana:

I don't think they would mind at all! Our dinner companions on the previous occasion didn't drink at all, and they do have a full bar.

exactly!!!!:thumbsup2

They sell Far Niente at Ralph's so I'm sure you could find up there, maybe just not a Walmart. :rolleyes1 Believe it or not we don't dine like this very often! We'll go weeks without dining out at all! But right now that's hard to believe since I'm posting all these pics about our big dining experiences, however, we probably won't do it again until we get to WDW or at least Orlando since we're dining and one of Emeril's restaurants.

Thanks for posting such heavenly pictures! Nom nom nom nom nom.

See you tomorrow. YAY! :banana::banana::banana:

Yay! See you today!

So I will have to do this one in stages as I have a busy weekend. We arrived home yesterday, had some chores to do a Band meeting last night(redesigning new website, blech, long story). I want to get on the road soon, but there are too many chores left until I get to Disneyland! I’m already partially packed and :laundy: yesterday is done!

We checked into the VGC at 4PM Wednesday. I didn’t see a lot of point in getting there earlier because if the room wasn’t ready we weren’t planning on going into the park until later. I had requested an upper floor, park view. Well I got half of it. Ground floor. Oh well, we weren’t going to be in the room hardly at all. I had my Jacuzzi tub!

DSCN2665.jpg

DSCN2760.jpg

So we got ourselves dressed and headed off to the Oktoberfest. It takes place at the Festival Arena in DL back near the Big Thunder BBQ.

DSCN2748.jpg

We were greeted with a mug of beer! Notice the date is wrong! :rotfl2:

DSCN2721.jpg

We secured a spot at a table with all our friends

DSCN2683.jpg

Got ourselves some pretzels

DSCN2673.jpg

DSCN2676.jpg

And settled down to enjoy the band

DSCN2752.jpg

This is where we went to get refills

DSCN2714.jpg

DSCN2715.jpg

I’ll have to finish this later because we’re heading back to DL!

Gosh, what a tease :rolleyes1

;)

ETA: Why was the date wrong on the mug? Was the event originally supposed to be on that date?
ETA-2: ^Not that it even matters really, because there's beer in that mug which makes it all better!
