PTR-Cheating on Mickey w/Harry!...OMG! Only a month to go!

:yay: to the double digit dance. Your chef's dinner sounds amazing even if it will be a trek. I cannot wait to read about it.

The Chefs Dinner sounds great.

Fingers are crossed that everything goes as planned.

I forgot to mention this here, but I booked the Chef's Dinner at the Flying Fish Cafe for October 11. It will be our second night on Disney property. We'll be at the VWL so it will be a trek. They haven't set the price yet, but it's called Viva Italia and will feature wines from the top producing regions of Italy. Also some of the Jamborinis will be there too, should be fun.

You are going to love it... That was my favorite dinner last year.

Like I said, I just hope we get to go on this trip!

I thought you did the Chef's Counter Private Tasting (which is still on my list of things to do!). This replaces a California Grill reservation, but I actually had two of those so no worries!

So we’re down to the final part of our day at Carsland/Buena Vista Street. What do you do after a fun day of thrill rides? Shopping!!!!! We had one item in particular on the shopping list, but first we wanted to see what nifty items we could find at the new Elias and Company Store. Sadly I didn’t get many exterior shots but things are rather Art Deco. Here are the couple shots of Elias & Co I have from the evening.

Inside the store, I was focused on the light fixtures. Someone in Ramone’s told us that one of the chandeliers was imported from Italy and was quite pricey. I’m guessing it was this one

But it could have been these too.

We spent a lot of time at this cash register, well you can't actually see the regiester, but it is in the back of the picture underneath the three lights beneath the upper floor (which is strictly for decoration).

At this point I realized that we had not captured my “cone sipper” so I had Fran take this shot of me. Since then I have misplaced it. She got upset at me having it on the kitchen counter, so she told me to put it away. I put it away so good I don’t know where I put it!

I really liked this display with the horns and all.

After I had enough shopping Fran sent me outside to watch Arline while she paid for stuff, so I kept snapping more pictures of BVS.

Then we went to the other side of the street. And of course we couldn’t resist the candy counter.

This store was much more up my alley not clothes and stuff, here was my loot. I still haven’t had a chance to do anything with it, it lays in the guest room on my still packed suitcases from the “not trip” untouched.

By this time it was getting late and we were really tired so we started to head out of the park. I still snapped a few more pictures.

Now mind you we weren’t quite done yet. You all know how I like my necklaces. Back when we refinanced her father’s old house, I got my Mickey Journey pendant. However there was another necklace made special for the 55th anniversary that I was torn between the two. I settled on the journey pendant because it was yellow gold and I wear much more yellow gold than white. However since our property in Texas closed at the beginning of June and they actually still had some of the necklaces left, we headed out to World of Disney to do some shoppin’! Brandi had asked me about a purse. Earlier in the week when we were there I looked at every D&B bag in this style at the park and knew that WoD had the best one.

At the same counter we were also able to buy my necklace. Not to brag, but it might be hard to see in the picture, Mickey’s ears are sapphires, and the face is diamonds. :confused3 What????? She’s getting an Auburn Speedster, at least mine is practical. And I’ve been wearing it ever since.

So that's about all I've got for you TTFN!

Your pictures remind me that I never made it into the stores on BVS. I love the way Elias looks on the inside. Beautiful. Those goodies look so yummy. Hopefully, you got a lot of them. I love the cone cups. Even though yours is temporarily misplaced, that is quite a cool souvenir. They were sold out when I was there.

Your pendant is beautiful. I do not like to wear jewelry other than my wedding ring. If I owned that piece, I would have to make an exception once in a while.

Congrats on the new necklace. Glad you're wearing it and enjoying it.

But I have to say, I love the black and white....the D&B is gorgeous as is the kitchen stuff!!!!!!

OK, so here's the not so pleasant news. I can't remember where I've posted what, some of you might have heard some of this before and some not. But I think as I last updated everyone Fran was scheduled to have surgery last week. Well for her Monday dressing change appt, it turned out to be a Doctor visit, not just a dressing change. We knew something was up when the first nurse who removes the dressing and takes all the vitals came in wearing a yellow gown over her scrubs.

I asked her, "So what's with the yellow gown?" I remember I had to wear one when visiting our manager of one of the properties that we sold back in 2005 when she was in ICU.

She says, "Your doctor will tell you about that."

Great. The next nurse came in and we asked her, she said the last culture they sent out had a "light case of MRSA". WT*?

So forward to this week. She had the surgery, they took all the extra precautions for the MRSA. We met with the whole staff, Monday with the Doctor he scraped her wound BIG TIME. She screamed loudly and lots, it was not pretty. Then they told us they would set up an appointment to set up a pik line for her to get antibiotics, and that she would resume the skin grafts and the wound vac.

Friday she goes in for the pik line and Monday she will start daptomyacin, which is almost similar to the vancomaicin that I had to admister to her last Fall, but she will go in for the infusion to the Los Alamitos Total Care Center and will do it 7 days a week for 4 weeks. During that time they are not going to do any additional cultures. Evidently they will wait until the treatment has run it's course before testing her, so no early release for good behavior.

The thing is that she can't get her arthritis drug until she has been well off the anitbiotic. Maybe a few weeks maybe a month. If she wraps up the anibiotic on August 6th, that means end of August before she can have the arthritis drug, which means maybe two doses before this trip. If nothing else she will not be feeling good and have massive pain on the trip. I'm wondering if it's even worth it and we should just reschedule this trip for a longer one with the Gamers meet in 2013.

Oh my you two have been put through the wringer this week.:grouphug: I really hope this surgery finally puts Fran on the mend.

I love your necklace and now know where to go for my missing pieces of flatwear since you bought the same set I have.

I just always wear a necklace, so I now have three pendants lhat I rotate. I have lots of necklaces but these three that I have mentioned and purchased in the last year are so nice that they are all I have worn lately. I'm wondering if I should just get ride of the other ones I have since I doubt I will really wear freshwater pearls, other faux jewels when I have my three fablulous Disney pendants!

Congrats on the new necklace. Glad you're wearing it and enjoying it.

But I have to say, I love the black and white....the D&B is gorgeous as is the kitchen stuff!!!!!!

I can't wait to put the silverware in the drawer, but we are having problems with our kitchen drawers in that they are falling apart. Right now I have half my silverware on the kitchen counter, plus my "prep" utensil drawer is trashed so I'm in a total state of flux. I can't wait to figure out what to do with my new silverware, but I would love to replace the old silverware with the Disney. We got service for 16. Then I could put my current silver that I DO like in #2 and get rid of the silver in #2. Arline has not been able to find her silverware yet in her unpacking so we could easily give her that. It was my wedding silverware and I would like to forget my wedding to the straight guy (especially since he didn't turn out to be straight) but it would be nice to give it to a good home.

OMG! That is horrible news.

How is Fran and how are you doing?

We are doing as best as we can. I'm ambibalnent as to whether or not it's better for her to be going in daily for the treatment or whether I do it at home. I don't want to do it, but it will be inconvenient for her to have to go every day for the next month. She wanted to go on a Gay Car Club Event this month and if I were doing it we could have brought the IV pole and taken care of it, but who knows if this doctor would have agreed to that. I guess we are set for a while.

I hope that all the stuff they have done makes this the last time she has to do this. Thanks for the thumbsup on the necklace, and "NO" you of our can't have any of our pieces of cutlery! So far we haven't even gotten them out of the boxes. I hope Fran likes them. I just realized that they don't have the small forks for crab and lobster and I"m not sure if they have serving stuff.

I am sorry to hear the update on Fran. That is terrible. I feel like I should just keep her in my regular prayers. She is really going through a lot and can probably use as many as she can get. Hopefully, everything goes as well as it can this time. If you do have to cancel the trip, I hope you do it farther in advance to avoid the points in the holding. If it is at all possible, I am hoping you take this trip and the one with the gamers next year.

Hi there!!! I miss reading your thread, and all your fabulous photos! Great pics as always!!!! So happy for you that you are in the double digits for your trip. :thumbsup2

Alison, so sorry to read about Fran, how has everything been this week?

Thanks again for the D&B...I love it....

I love the Black and White dishes, and silverware.

Not so pleasant news indeed. I would hate for you to have to postpone another trip, but if Fran is unable to enjoy it.... I know I keep saying it, but you guys have just been through the wringer lately.

Are you thinking of making a decision about it soon, or will you give it a while before deciding on whether or not to postpone? On one hand it might be better not to get your hopes up for them to be dashed to the ground again, but on the other, hope can be a really good thing.

On a lighter note, your necklace is just beautiful. How fabulous they still had one. :) any pictures of the other two you recently bought?

Let me know if you ever find the serving stuff because my set only had the dinner and salad forks, knives, soup spoons and regular spoons. Why is it we can start with a full set for 16 and be down to half that in no time at all. I swear the kids toss them in the trash instead of the sink sometimes.
