PTR-Cheating on Mickey w/Harry!...OMG! Only a month to go!

Sounds like you're putting your spa certificates to good use.:thumbsup2

Your VGC pics make me homesick and I don't think we'll get there until the end of 2012 or maybe 2013.

:lmao: Is it really off the menu?! It better be! It nearly killed us! :rotfl:

It was def fun meeting up! We'll do it again soon but next time it won't be so rushed...hopefully :sad2:

Hey next time let me know if that deal comes up again for the spa :thumbsup2

I'm so glad we get there often! The rooms are by far the niceset of all the DVC resorts, and with a high floor park view, the only other view that beats it is AKV! Where you will be in a couple weeks! :woohoo: Our next stay at VGC will be Nov 12!

I'll definitely let you know if I see a deal like this come up again. I originally heard about it on the dvctalk Yahoo group, but I think they mentioned it on the VGC owners and lovers thread.

So I have to tell you all! We lost at least three of our aged kitties this year and at least 2-3 more since September of 2009. We've been talking about getting some more, but we were going to wait until after our trip. Well tonight we were in PetSmart picking up supplies for Arline. I always like to check out the adoptees to see if that special one is there. I think I found him tonight. His name is Mac and he looks like a larger version of my Sunny. It was about an hour before closing so it's doubtful anyone came in and got him, but I wanted s to sleep on it, and our hotel is pet free. But we're planning to go back at 9AM when they open and pick him up! I can even post a pic once we get him!

:rotfl2: Which trip was that? I know how DS likes his Parm!

2008. That was the one where we stayed 10 days in Residence Inn Maingate...DB, his twins and his GF; and my parents were also there at the same time.

I haven't pulled those pics out yet. We purchased the SoCal City Pass for this trip.

Meet Mac

He seems to enjoy traveling, and is no problem in the car. He is very mellow and purrs a lot.

What a cute little kitty!! :lovestruc

I wish I wasn't allergic to cats or dogs...the dog allergy is very mild, but the cat allergy is severe. I would love to raise a puppy and a kitten together. Enjoy him!

Aw your Mac is very cute and I'm sure not as sassy as my Mac (DGS 4yrs). Yesterday he was telling his Mom he needed his Facebook.:rotfl:

OK, so that's what I want to hear about the Coq au vin. I love Mac n cheese, but I've read some bad reviews where the Mac was cold and hard, so let's hope those were isolated incidents.

So they're actually going to be IOA tickets because we didn't buy "hopper" tickets and we don't plan on going into the Universal park. All we pretty much want to do is Harry Potter. Wow! I'll be in there getting ready for lunch with a butterbeer 2 weeks from now!

found out we'll be in Florida for dd Spring Break - she wants to see Harry Potter - Florida isnt a large state is it? :rotfl2:

Looking for tips and tricks where I can! Are you going to be doing any of the HP rides? I'm a bit nervous from things I've read, wondering how things are now that HP has been opened for awhile...

My 4-year-old and 6-year-old tell me to text their daddy when he is working late! And DS6 tries to read my texts! :lmao: Ahh...kids! :goodvibes

You get the best quotes and laughs from the 4 - 6 yr olds!!! You still get some good ones from the older kids, but they're not as often as with the younger ones. Enjoy these years, they go by fast.

:flower3: Sorry about the allergies...my kitties are such a large part of my life, I don't know what I would do without them!

Welcome! :welcome: Only 10 days left until I find out just how cool Harry Potter land is!

So we left off after the Grand Mariner Tasting. I have no idea what we’ll be doing for dinner that night. If they don’t call me by next Tuesday, I’ll be giving them a call. From what I read on the F&W sticky, they are calling people (in order of their dates and we’re the last date) and offering them a less pricey dinner with the Kouzzina Head Chef, Dee. We’ve decided to keep an open mind and listen to what they have to say when they call and make up our minds then. It would be much more convenient not to have to take a bus to DTD and just scoot from BCV to BWV, so we’ll see how it goes. Either way, I’m sure Saturday night we’ll have a great dinner at Kouzzina or Raglan Road.

Sunday we plan to steer clear of Epcot for the most part. I’ve heard that the weekends are pretty much mobbed, especially starting in the late afternoon so instead of wasting our time in lines and getting beer spilled on us by drunk people, we’re just going to head over to DHS. We’ll do our best to get there at rope drop, and head directly to

Before heading to for our 12:50 lunch reservation.

After that I think we’ll head back to the room. This might be one of my few chances to check out Stormalong Bay. We could possibly go there after our Bistro experiences on Friday or Saturday, but I have a feeling that we might have had too much alcohol then to safely engage in water activities.

We’re a little up in the air about what to do on Sunday night as well. We could go to the kiosks for dinner, but they could still be mobbed with the weekend crowds. I’m going to have some kind of a back up plan for dinner that I can cook in the room, but I’m still working on that. Not sure if I should pick up some ground beef at the store, but what will I do with it if we don’t eat in the room? We have dinner reservations for the rest of the trip once we leave BCV. I was thinking I could do something with bacon, because I know that we’ll be cooking breakfast in the room at VWL on at least one day. Maybe that’s it! If we don’t eat at the kiosks we could make grilled bacon and cheese sandwiches for dinner and watch a video. Or we could go to Beaches and Cream! :confused3: so many choices! :rotfl2:

Well heck! I better start on my grocery list!

OK TTFN!

OK TTFN!

Suggestions for bacon: grilled bacon & cheese sandwiches like you said in your post, BLT sandwiches (no pun intended ), pick up a small package of complete pancake mix and a little bottle of syrup, and make pancakes with bacon, make bacon and eggs and have breakfast for dinner, or if you like pasta, you can make pasta carbonara (with cream and eggs, and crumbled bacon).

Sounds nice to just relax in the room and have dinner and watch a video...getting away from the crowds, and just having some nice down time. A must on vacation! :thumbsup2

We have syrup in our Owner's Locker :scratchin I would be more likely to make French Toast over pancakes. On our previous to last trip I made carbonara one night because we had all that stuff on hand. I just checked the contents of my OL and we have spaghetti in there. I was thinking I could get a can of clams and we could have spaghetti and clam sauce, but Fran didn't like that idea. As I said, must start on that shopping list!

Monday morning will mark a change in our trip. We will make one more trek into Epcot and then the focus will no longer be on the Food & Wine Festival. We’ll pack up our stuff, probably stay in the room until 11AM when Bell Services will come pick up our stuff and haul it over to the Wilderness Lodge Villas.

That’s conveniently when the Food & Wine kiosks open up, so that’s where we will be headed to until we get tired or it hits 4PM. We can’t be guaranteed to get a room before then so we’ll have to see what happens. By my calculations the countries that I want to hit that we will not have visited are:

  • Cheese, Introduced: 2010 (not technically a country, but they have a booth)
  • China, Introduced: 1996
  • France, Introduced: 1996
  • Germany, Introduced: 1996
  • Italy, Introduced: 1996
  • Poland, Introduced: 1996
  • South Korea, Introduced: 2010

Not bad since there’s only one or two things at each (with the exception of Italy) that I want to try. However, again it looks like we might not get to double up on any of our favorites unless we decide to come back on Tuesday or Wednesday. I want to hit the MK one of the days and we’ve decided to save the AK until our trip in May, so unless we want two days at the MK we may find ourselves back at Epcot again. :confused3:

Here’s a few of the things I’m hoping to have on that Monday

The Pot stickers from China

IMG_1907.jpg

Also the Black Pepper Shrimp with Sichuan Noodles

DSC_00521.jpg

Shoot! We never went back to Belgium to get the mussels

PA0602851.jpg

The sausage in the Pretzel Roll from Germany

IMG_1780.jpg

The apple strudel!

IMG_1781.jpg

The Cheese fondue (although this is last year’s, now they serve it with bread instead of potatoes.)

020by1.jpg

And of course the kielbasa and perogie

IMG_1922.jpg

I just realized, we have not stopped for a Margarita!

IMG_1920.jpg

We’re going to have to step things up a bit to fit in the important stuff!

Eventually, we’ll be departing from Epcot around 3-4 PM, now here is a good question! How are we going to get to the VWL? This may very well be our first use of the Disney Transportation System! Do we hop on a bus and go directly there hassling all the bus riders while the driver fastens down our scooters? OR do we hop on a monorail to the TTC, then the resort Monorail or the MK Monorail and get off at the Contemporary and take a boat over to VWL? Choices, choices!

Regardless of how we get there, we will be checking in at the wondrous lodge and staying put for the night.

Because at 7:30 we have a reservation at

IMG_04561.jpg

I am very much looking forward to this! I have heard so many good things about this place. And I can’t wait to go back to the lodge! On our trip in May we took ME to and from the airport and after it picked us up at the Contemporary we stopped at the Lodge to get some guests and I got so excited just stopping in front of the place. This time I’ll get to go inside and stay!

So for Gay Days weekend, we decided that we would actually stay over. I pushed my luck and asked if we could stay Friday night too, and booked both nights in a studio at 11 months. Well who knew that Carol Channing was going to have a fundraising event for her charity to bring music back into the schools on the last night! Fran was having me call every day to see if I could extend our stay through Sunday! No dice, but I love how it used to be me asking we could stay two nights and now she is wondering if we need more points so that we can stay in 1 bedrooms all the time! :lmao:

We checked in, but our room wasn’t ready. She had bought two of the hyenas from the Lion King the week prior, but didn’t get Ed. She had called all over So Cal seeking Ed and actually found him, so instead of go and hang out at the resort, we decided to head to the store that had Ed. It was at Southcoast Plaza which was about 20 minutes from DL. This place practically costs you just to walk into the mall! :rotfl2: OMG They had a Charlie Palmer Restaurant there, Bloomingdale’s, every freakin’ high end store you could think of. Valet parking, I mean this place gives Rodeo Drive a run for it’s money! You’re talking people with money shop here! But we just went to the Disney store, got our critter and headed back out.

Just as we were pulling back up to the hotel at 3:57 I got the text with the room number. 4504! For those of you who have stayed in studios at the VGC, the 04 rooms have the best views. Floor, 6, then 5 and 4 or 3. Anything lower than that and you can’t see over the fence. So here is our view.

DSCN2763.jpg

Our plan for the evening was to have dinner at Trader Sam’s Bar. We had eaten there a few weeks back and it was really good, but we were also overtired that night and sat in the outside. This time we wanted to sit inside. However, before we went over there, we wanted to meet up with Hawleys who was flying in with her wife and they intended to attend Mickey’s Halloween Party. Their plane was delayed so we passed the time by visiting the Gay Days information center, to purchase pins, souvenirs and pick up our tickets for the Carol Channing event on Sunday.

We went back to the room for a little while, and received a text from Hawleys shortly thereafter that they were on their way to the Halloween Party and were dressed in their costumes, Huey, Duey and Luey.

DSCN2766.jpg

So we decided to head over to the bar. Great Theming!

DSCN2767.jpg

DSCN2768.jpg

This window because very animated when customers ordered various kinds of drinks, like the Volcano, it would appear to spout smoke, another drink would cause “rain” to fall. It was fun.

DSCN2770.jpg

We ordered an Uh Oal

DSCN2772.jpg

We also ordered the Lettuce Cups and Fish Tacos

DSCN2771.jpg

There was a little ritual when the drink arrived, they lit it on fire and then we tossed cinnamon into the drink to make extra flames. Then our server extinguished the fire and put the straws in.

DSCN2774.jpg

DSCN2779.jpg

Our appetizers arrived.

DSCN2782.jpg

Fish Tacos

DSCN2781.jpg

And the Lettuce cups, these were awesome! I highly recommend them!

DSCN2780.jpg

DSCN2783.jpg

After that round of food and drinks, we were still hungry so we ordered another round of stuff.

I got a Ka-Blue-ie!

DSCN2785.jpg

DSCN2789.jpg

Fran ordered at HippopotoMaiTai

DSCN2786.jpg

They were out of souvenir glasses, so she just got a regular drink.

DSCN2788.jpg

We considered, but decided against the Tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki Rum

DSCN2787.jpg

We ordered a BBQ pulled pork flat bread and the green beans

DSCN2784.jpg

Finally we were full and tired and headed back to the room. But I snapped a few pictures of the outside seating area. We sat there last time, and were probably too tired to handle all the inside quirks at that time. However, inside was a lot of fun this time!
